(((Hugs))) Cutterby - you should be able to rely on your mum, especially when you're pregnant.
Teenine and GFH - No I don't have any lanisoh. Can I get it from the chemist?
MI3 - Could your OH maybe explain the baby situation to the new employer? They might be flexible of they know the situation - maybe even if he can get a week off is better than nothing? I'm not clued up on these things - but surely if employers have to honour a pre booked holiday then they should honour a pre booked baby??? I know its no comparison - but you know what I mean!!
Wendz - Good luck for your scan tonight. Don't forget to report back so we can coo over scan pictures.
Actually, I scanned my 20 week pics in last night so will try and upload those when I get home tonight.0 -

Yes they are liable to the VAT increase.
The lady in M & P told us that if you put a deposit down on any pram it secures it at that price even if the price rises afterwards, surprisingly if the price goes down they will let you have it at the reduced price even if when you ordered it was higher.
Worthwile knowing I think especially if you wanted to put down a deposit on something before the VAT increaseOne day Rodney we'll be millionaires£2020 in 2020 - Running Total £170 -

I would be more comfortable if he at least mentioned it and gave them my due date, unless I was having an elective c-sec he can't actually book the time off in advance.
Ladies, how are your partners managing it, have they got pre-booked time off or are their employers willing to be flexible dependent on when the LO arrives? We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

I know, its just this company have already messed him about and it makes me feel nervous not knowing if it is going to be able to be around for the birth.
He must be able to come for the birth, surely, he should be allowed some days as a "carer" whether or not they pay him.
I think all employees have a right to reasonable time off to care for dependants (unpaid) and a wife in labour is def a dependant. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

My hubbys employers are really really good actually. After the IVF they were so delighted for us. We cant afford hubby to take paternity leave as his company do not top up but have said he can have a weeks annual leave with no notice for the birth. They have also offered to assist with taking my child to childcare as currently hubby gets a lift of a colleague and are allowing time to drop off etc.Baby Girl Born May 2011Baby Boy Born Nov 2012

He does need to at least mention it to them as he will want to be at the birth - and you don't know how long you will be in labour - so better he brings up the subject with them now rather than phoning in at the time. Fore warned is fore armed and all that. Is that the right expression?!
I am quite lucky as DH is self employed so can take off whatever time he wants - although obv he doesn't get paid for it. I do think he thinks he's only going to be taking a few days off - hmmmm, unlikely lol!0 -
