Sorry to hear about your virus ICE. There is so much going round, my family are dropping like flies at the mo, both nannas and my mum are laid up with a virus.
Harsh time of year...xx0 -
Hi guys can I join? This is my fourth pregnancy, first child and I'm the furthest I've been :j I'm 6 weeks 2 days now and my first midwife appointment is on Sunday. I'm surprised she got me in so fast
Hope everyone is ok x
Welcome. Sticky bean vibes for you. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Was it planned? What's it gotta do with you???
It must be an involuntary response some people have. For me, I say I'm 34. I planned kids when I was 25 just couldn't get my act together through all the partying and living it up.
I'm off poorly today. I had a fab 3 days off although not in Ireland as planned due to the bad weather - not worth crashing a rental car with bubs on board. Will reschedule for the new year. Last night I thought I was getting morning sickness at 1am. Felt absolute pants but then went to be sick a couple of times and then the other....so knew it wasn't MS then. Then at 5am got a nose bleed. Aparently there's a bug going around so hopefully that and not food poisoning. Had to go out for tea last night while house got warm after boiler broke. DH fixed it but I thought we'd ran out of oil...we hadn't but luckily they delivered and brimmed it anyhow. Getting it serviced tomorrow morning regardless. It needs some TLC after it's relocation. And I was feeling sorry for you lot that had problems and then touche!
Still got a bubbly belly so gonna watch a Christmas film and do some ironing.
Keep safe and well. x0 -
I'm in bed (again) but this time with a heavy, chesty cold. With babs still up high kicking my ribs too - its downright miserable. Last night I though it was flu, but the fever has subsided today.
Just catching up with some of the subjects over the last few days and throwing in my two-penny worth:
RLT - the research on it is very thin - its mostly anecdotal so up to you to decide if to, when to and how much. I started with one cup a day at 34 weeks, but really not enjoying it, so will struggle to up the dose nearer the time.
Perinneal massage - my yoga teacher and midwives are very pro this. I've got the oil and OH is up for it. But equally everyone I've asked has said its painful and haven't stuck with it. I'm waiting till I'm well, no point starting now when my whole body aches already.
Eating in labour - I have been told, if you feel like it, slow-release energy foods are best, toast, pasta and carbs. Fruit juice to avoid cos of the acidity and nibbling is best as many women throw up in labour. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
I've just watched a Baby Story on TV, an American prog. The woman was having a home birth and her hubby was in Iraq, so she had about 20 people at the birth not incl the midwife  I could not imagine having my mum, mil, dad, sisters, young daughter (who cut the cord), and nuimerous others there while I'm giving birth!0

Make it 3, you just reminded me that I was sick at 6cm dilated with DD. It came out of no where.
Cat, I watch a few of these progs and the Americans seem to have no problem having inlaws etc at the birth. I was embarrassed enough having Oh and midwife.
They also seem to be lying flat on their backs the whole time and in stirrups for the pushing stage.
I couldn't stop pacing with DS and only stopped for contractions and a little monitoring.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
When I was sick in labour you'd think it had never happened before the way the midwife acted. It was only later I found out it is fairly common.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I would be so embarrased having that many people watching - they all had jobs too, photographer, videographer, tea maker, cord cutter etc!! I know what you mean about them all lying down too, they also seem to have c-section at the drop of a hat!0

Did it though... Passed with 3 minor faults
Oooh well done you!!
Mine got cancelled, it actually got cancelled yesterday cos I spoke to the test centre who said they havent done any tests in the last two weeks it was 99% likely that todays tests would be cancelled too and I kinda needed to know cos the test was so early and Id be having an hours lesson beforehand and OH is starting work at 5.30am at the moment which means Im having to get DD to the childminders myself. Anyhoo they are supposed to be calling me in the next 3 days with another test date but it wont be til mid Jan cos they have such a backlog. Its crap but nothing could be done I guess. We still have a lot of ice on the side roads here, main ones are ok but they all need to be clear for tests to go ahead apparently.
Congrats again, bet thats a big relief isnt it!!

Arrrgh, small rant coming :mad::eek::mad::eek::mad::eek:
This pregnancy was supposed to be calm and stress free after the last one, which was medically easy, but practically speaking, the most complicated and stressful time of our lives. I was so looking forward to it all being planned and calm. It seems I attract chaos when pregnant :rotfl:
The lovely house we found, and had an offer accepted on, and then spent 6 months while the seller messed around, only for it to go catastrophically wrong just before we exchanged contracts? Well, just as we were writing an email to our lovely solicitor to say there was nothing else to be done, could she just send us her enormous bill, we got an email from the estate agent, saying the seller has changed his mind, and is applying for retrospective planning permission after all. This was the issue that made us drop out.
So goodness knows where we are again. Could we be moving house before the baby arrives? Or with a brand new baby? Or just letting ourselves in for a whole world more heartache and brainache for nothing with this idiot of a man who sees no need to be honest with anyone about anything.
Plus, the overdue toddler group mum I was worrying about in the snow, gave birth with no-one except her hubby there (who did a brilliant job of catching apparently) - ambulance and midwife arrived after it was all over. Apparently the midwife had walked from the other side of the town to get through the snow to her. This has only made my (probably totally irrational) fears about that happening to me all the more real :rotfl: They, and their gorgeous son are all fine though, so maybe it should be a reassurance...
ETA Huge congratulations Krystal, that's wonderful news :j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T0
