Hi everyone. Just wanted to post a picture of Juliet. She's so beautiful and really good. She hardly ever cries and last night (6 days old) slept for 5 hours, then fed for 15 mins and slept for another 4 hours.
I'm feeding her myself, even though I got off to a bad start. She was born at 4pm and I tried to feed her in the recovery room after the CS. She suckled a little, but mainly slept. She didn't wake again for a long time and at 11pm I asked the midwife if I should be worried that she hadn't fed. The midwife said I had to wake her and feed her. I tried to wake her and she just wanted to sleep. Obviously you can't force a baby to BF, so the midwife suggested I give her a bottle. I managed to force 40ml into her and she slept again for about 6 hours. I tried throughout the second day to BF and she suckled for a few minutes and then dozed off. That night again the MW said if she hadn't fed properly I should give her a bottle. I gave her 80ml. I continued to try to BF her and she was only suckling for a few minutes at a time.
When I got home I still really wanted to exclusively BF and Googled how much milk does a newborn need. To my horror I found that on the day of birth a baby only needs 7ml (on MW recommendation I gave her a bottle and forced 40ml into her!), on day 2 they only need 14ml (I gave her 80ml in a bottle). All because I was told by MW that I had to wake her and feed her. Since I have got home I have been BF exclusively and she feeds about every 4 hours for about 30 minutes and sleeps the rest of the time. She seems very happy and content.

This picture was taken when she was a few hours old. I will do my birth story soon.
Thats a very good link and is bound to ease some breastfeeding concerns, wow 4 hours between feeds! mine barely went an hour in the early days, im not jealous:mad:
edit... she's so cute! congrats0 -

Am very tired, woke up at 1am with pain again same as saturday, so ended up in A+E, then labour ward as they didnt know where else best to put me lol. All in all I have had 3 hours sleep and they have found 1 very small gall stone. But they think I have gastric spasms so have been given evil chalky tablets that I know will make me chunder.
I dont like hospitals. I also have to work out how to get to sleep propped up. My lovely OH trekked 5 miles by foot to visit me in a snow blizzard (we've had 4 inches of snow today). Bless him I am lucky.
Hope all are well I have read back but my brain is seive like today

I've had my gall bladder out due to stones, I can sympathise the pain is terrible, and yes usually at night, I used to take 1000mg Ibubrofens like sweets and sometimes to A&E for a shot of morphine but being pg you won't be able to take anything. Sounds like you have it quite mild if they only found 1 stone. My mam and aunt have had theirs out too so I think it must be hereditary. I was never given chalky stuff though I hope it works for you.AKA: PC

Am I crazy to want to have a small birthday party on 5th February when I'm due on 2nd? I have my reasons...
Not crazy at all hun. I think it would be nice to have something to look forward to that isn't necessarily baby relatedMaybe enlist the help of OH or a friend to do any preparations (nibbles etc) and make sure that anyone invited is aware that date is dependant on bubs etc.

Yes me! Although they have started getting a lot better since I brought some of these moisture gloves from Boots

Whack a load of hand cream on the hands, pop the gloves on while you sleep and they really help the cream sink in. My hands have improved no end since I got some of theseSammy_Girl wrote: »EA - Good luck for your scan tomorrow :j

CL - Juliet is a beauty!
Just a very quick update before I go to bed, I'm full of a nasty head cold and it's finally caught up with me and I need sleep!
Growth scan went really well, the little monkey has gone back breech but he still has plenty of time to turn. He was one very wriggly boy on the scan and kept trying to kick off the ultrasound probe! He is now estimated to weigh 3lb 9oz so he has put on 10oz on in 14 days, no wonder he was quiet last week - he was busy growing!
So hugs to everyone who needs them tonight, hope you are all keeping warm, I'm really sorry that I haven't read back but will make the effort tomorrow. Nighty, night xx
Ticklepenny - I can sympathise with you, I had my gallbladder out when I was 22! I had a gallstone stuck for 10 days and ended up in hospital for 14 days and had really bad jaundice, it took the hospital that long to find out what was wrong with me! I still have my gallstones in a little pot in the bathroom cupboard!Virtual Sealed Pot 2013 #41 - £69.27OJ born 25/01/110 -

Sorry havnt had time to read back, hope your all well. Beautiful pic CL.
Were finally in our house. Were toasty but it's minus 14  the snow is also up to just above my knee so kids havnt even been outto play. But it is all beautiful. The Grampian hills are surrounding us. Amazing scenery.
It was a scary drive up.I was so scared with just me and the kids. My car was sliding sideways at one point.
All settled.will spend tomorrow waiting for sky, unpacking and putting up the Christmas decs.
Take care everyone in the weather.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0
