evening ladies,
I haven't been on in ages, so i will start by congratulating all the ladies on the new arrivals, and welcoming the newbies.
I have been struggling over the last couple of weeks trying to finish the legal process on selling my house and finally exchanged yesterday and complete on the 10th, so rushing around trying to pack and move in this time but the house we will be renting wont be available until the 8th at earliest so it will be a rush trying not to stress too much over it but its hard.
Plus when we went for my 31 week appointment on Friday as soon as the midwife put her hand on my her face was a picture and said ohh he has grown a lot in 3 weeks, according to her he will be way over 9lbs if i go full term, so now just have to wait for my growth scan on the 29 dec, its completely freaking me out. Plus im starting to feel so tired and huge now i dont know how i will cope for another 8 weeks.
sorry for the massive post, just needed to say it out loud (or type)
CL - she is lovely
Tickle - hugs and hope you feel better soon.

Sorry Dusty, no idea... Could it be a kidney infection?
We're putting up our tree tonight :j Anyone else? I'm trying to get all Christmassy - my works Christmas party is on Friday and I don't feel ready for it yet!
CL, well done for persevering with the BF hun, so many people feel pushed into formula feeding in the hospital because the midwives believe the baby needs fed... It's actually very natural for them to not feed for the first 24hrs... And supplementing with formula can often be a slippery slope to the end of breastfeeding.A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hi again Jenapples. Firstly, the midwife is just guessing. I have no idea why they do this as it means nothing. Even scans are inaccurate, and no-one knows how big he will be until he's born, unless he is truly outrageously big or small. 9lb isn't outrageous, and often, big babies are born more easily because they are squidgier and less angular.
For what it's worth, my DS was 9lb4oz, labour was natural, under 3 hours, and he was born with 4 pushes, and no stitches. So a big baby isn't necessarily a bad thing xx0 -

Me too! I was in for 2.5 weeks I went yellow too, I got severe pancreatitis, I was very slim to start with and after 2 weeks nill by mouth I went down to under 6 stone:eek: 2 of my friends cried when they visited me they thought I was dying! which I found kind of funny:o Don't get freaked out Penny I don't think it's common!
How are you now Sarah? I have developed a few minor problems since the op.AKA: PC

DD wasn't very interested the first 12 hours I was determined not to use formula, the MW's were desperate to get something in her, one wanted to manually squeeze some out of me (HERSELF:eek::eek::eek:) and then use a syringe to squirt it in DD's mouth. There was no way I was going to sit and be literally "milked" by a 50 year old woman I'd met that afternoon. I just persevered and kept wiggling her earlobe to keep her lucid and we managed enough to satisfy the MW's.AKA: PC

Hugs Tickle - its bad enough when these things crop up but when you're pregnant too ...
CL glad you have got in tune with little Juliet, I too have heard that they can need very little nourishment in the first few days as they still have reserves inside them. I'm sure she would let you know if she wanted more milk.
And you can count me on the dry lips team, I carry around a big pot of vaseline with me but it still doesn't seem to be enough. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

When I worked on the wards, the breastfeeding lead midwife showed me the flow graph they are supposed to work to WRT feeding in the first 24hrs, which basically says keep trying at the breast but don't be concerned if the baby is not interested... She said the majority just disregard it and push for formula feeding because they can just tick it off the form and it saves them work...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Lilian - where are you in the country? Our snow is virtually non-existent compared to yours.
We're putting up our tree tonight :j Anyone else? I'm trying to get all Christmassy - my works Christmas party is on Friday and I don't feel ready for it yet!
North West Derbyshire, at the base of the peak district. It's so so cold!
We're putting our decorations up today but the tree is going up on Saturday as my parents are coming up for the weekend and it's going to be my first christmas not at their house so we're doing a passing over tradition where we all put the tree up together!
Dusty - I forget how far gone you are, sorry, but I get a pain under my right rib a lot, I think it's peanut's foot!
CL - Juliet is beautiful and I love the name. Stupid MW - it amazes me what they don't seem to know! Baby's stomach is the size of a small grape when they're first born so the colostrum you produce is plenty to keep them nourished - it may not feel like anything is coming out but if baby detaches themself naturally then they're probably satisfied with what they've hadWell done for perservering xx
