    Afternoon all,

Alamaya, I have decided to go down the terry nappy route and bought a supply of 36 nappies for £40 on ebay, I know you need the wraps and pins too, but you should be able to kit yourself out for well under £100.

Well I really aggravated my SPD last night trying to get to my antenatal classes, the bus took a diversion cos of the student protests, so I had to walk further and fast as it made us late over a very chilly and slippery Westminster Bridge, it actually felt like my pelvis froze up with the snow and wind chill coming off the Thames. I then had a really bad night's sleep as it was just so painful. So I've been in bed most of the day, and debating whether to go to my yoga class or not tonight.

Hope everyone is keeping their bumps safe and warm inside today. Can't believe our EDD list now includes next summer babies - beginning to feel like a real old lady of the group (which I guess I am!).

    Ladies, help!

Bought a new pair of maternity jeans from New look. They have like an elasticated inner. Does that go above and over the bump or stay in the jeans??? Bloody weird!
Sounds like over the bump to me. Is it like cotton material about 6 - 8 inches high?

I'm a numpty....I hit a car up the back today :( I was going really really slow. Like 5 mph and my wheels locked and I didn't stop in time at the lights :( The bloke was really nice, I gave him my number, no visual damage but I told him to have a check just in case. He's not rang back yet.

But I'm so stupid I didn't take photos or write his number plate or take his name or number. I was in such a flap and on my way to the midwife appointment :( Argh. Now I'm worried I might get conned or something (my brain does work over time with these sorts of things).

Aside from that - some advice please from you lovely pg ladies who have been pg before...

Am I crazy to want to have a small birthday party on 5th February when I'm due on 2nd? I have my reasons...

    * I've been bloody miserable every birthday for years because I never do anything.
    * It might jinx me into labour ;)
    * It'll give me something to look forward to/focus on that isn't baby related towards the end.

I was only thinking cold buffet finger food style - so no real work on my behalf. Just want some friends round really. And I'm sure they'd understand if I had to cancel.

If I'm mad then it's time to talk me out of it before I commit myself...

I was going to see Alice in Wonderland when i was 40+2, i cancelled to go the next day instead. But i went into labour at 5am so i never got to see it in 3d lol.

So i say, go for it! :D
  • Yeah it's cotton material giz with elastic at the top going all the way round.

Why don't you book your party a week or two earlier? At least then you can still try to bump labour into gear but also ensure you have your party (well ish lol) than have to cancel!

This is exactly my thinking! I don't think I'd be disappointed having to cancel...well who would really. A baby is a much better party :) Maybe painful - but the bit after :)

Go for it Giz babies are notorious for being late. It will give you something to focus on and look forward to and if you have to cancel, well it's for a fab reason!

The only negative I can think of is you may be totally exhausted in the last weeks, if that wouldn't put you off, then go for it.

  • Go for it Giz. Have a party. I'm sure that friends will understand, and be thrilled for you, if you have to cancel last minute.

Don't tell DH but I might have overdone it today. Got up, bit of housework, went out to do some volunteering with a charity for a few hours, walked home via the supermarket, made cake and now doing more housework, and then cook dinner. Feeling quite tired now, and supposed to be going out to an arts class tonight. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Only a few weeks left for me to get all my projects at work in order and handed over. eeeeeeep

Anyone else got really really dry hands?

    Evening ladies :)

Giz - I would go ahead and plan the party! It could jinx bubs into coming on due date :)

Hngrymummy - I have seriously dry hands. I'm putting cream on every time i wash my hands but they're still dry. Plus I'm getting quite bad spots too :( Think it's a combo of central heating and cold outside.

Super loads of snow here today. Spent 2 hours this afternoon shovelling loads of snow with a few of the neighbours to make it easier for the cars. Just hope it doesn't snow again tonight and ruin our hardwork! Feel knackered now, so I'm going to have some dinner, a nice bath and a night in front of the box with Lord Sugar :)

    Hugs to all xxxx

Oh yes, Charlie - my favourite maternity trousers/jeans are over the bump as the bump band keeps my belly lovely and warm :)
  • I've got really dry hands, they look like my granny's.
