Nice how caring he is in regards to a nearly 8 months pregnant woman who has had 1 miscarriage already this year, struggling in the ice and snow on 2 different trains, on a journey which takes at least one and a half hours on a 'good weather' day.
Don't know why i cried. I should be used to the shi tty treatment by now.
Roll on next Friday.
Poor youIt makes me feel a bit better about my boss who, despite being an idiot who STILL hasn't had any proper training to do half of his job (the half he needs to know when I leave no less) is very kind about things like this. Can you just call in sick for the next fortnight or would that affect your maternity pay in the long run?
Thanks for the tips about mattress protectors, can't remember who it was that posted the Boots link, sorry, I've just ordered some along with some lucozade tablets for the labour, also I ordered some Avent nipple cream and got the Avent hospital essentials pack for free because I need some fragrance free toiletries for the hospital. So thank you for the reminder!
OK, I said I'd work from home today so I guess I should do something for a bit - will work till lunchtime and then watch the new Gossip Girl that I've downloaded (it's OH's birthday tomorrow so he probably won't want me watching it in the evening and swooning over Chuck Bass...)My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

well i am not in work today.
Not risking the walk dangerous enough when i was on my own but now i am carrying precious cargo no chance.
Tried to book a taxi at 8 told to wait till 9.30. at 9.45 still not come (not surprising really) work rang asked if i thought i would make it in and honestly said i had seen no cars near my street for over an hour and i dont think i would be and they said i could take it off as annual leave. So i did.
So much more relaxed now. Cleaning like a loon lol.
Only sad thing is i hope snow stops by thurs. Its my 16wk midwife appointment and i really wanted to hear the heartbeat for the first time lol
Take care all

lilian they'd probably make me start my ML early, and to be honest I need all the money I can get.
The gist of it is:
I emailed him to tell him there was a lot of snow round my way this morning and the pavements are very slippery, so I was going to work from home if that was ok. To which I got the response 'Really??' - ?? umm..really what..? really...it's snowing??...or..really...it's slippery??..or...really..I'm going to work from home??..!!!!!!, give me a clue!
Went back and asked him what he would like me to do, and if it was a problem I'd take it as unpaid leave. He came back saying he would ask HR (despite HR having sent round a special 'snow disruption' document last week saying it is down to the discretion of the line manager, ie him.
Then comes back just now saying that he has spoken to HR, and 'on this occasion they are ok for me to work from home'.
...hmmm...sooo..what exactly was the point of that whole email exchange?
He's such a tool sometimes.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
RBG – sorry to hear you had such a rough time at the hospital. Definietly complain. You are NHS too aren’t you? We do take our complaints seriously. J Good on hubby for sticking up for you though.
PC – I was debating your finger in the belly button trick to get bubs moving last night but couldn’t bring myself to do it. Bubs is noteably quiet today. Teenie – I honestly think they have busy and slow days, try not to worry too much – easier said than done I know. I was straight to the mw’s at 19 weeks when I hadn’t felt anything but all was well. Maybe you just have a lazy baby J
Welcome Jade, if you could pop it out a day earlier it will be my birthday – woo hoo….! Welcome cyclura and babyboysmummy congrats on hitting the magic 12 week mark.
Tickle – I do love your pelvic floor reminders, I must do better!
Ema – where do you keep disappearing off to? I miss you twinnie J
((HUGS)) to you welshlassie, I have no advice or nothing constructive to add but I can offer a hug J
((HUGS)) MV – He sounds like a t0sser, you’ll be out of there soon enough.
Bl00dy hell Lauren – that morning is definitely worse than mine (my horror story coming up) – what a cheek the woman at the school has, your DD sounds like a right character. Surely SS will see it was a tantrum and nothing more? Can you not even discipline your daughter now without everyone else getting involved.0 -
Self indulgent post alert:
So I get up at 6am this morning cos it has been snowing so I know there'll be heavy traffic. Half way through my shower and it goes ice cold. Shout OH (who is off work all week) who comes in and tells me all the fuses in the house have blown. He goes to have a look and can't get the electricity back on, boiler gone off so no hot water or heating.
OH then rants on again about a leak we have in the bathroom, which has been there for about 12 months and he hasn't done a thing about it, it seems the leak has gone through to the kitchen and blown the fuse in the boiler which is directly under the bath. Now obviously this is all my fault for daring to have a shower of a morning and not at all his for leaving this leak to get so bad.
So after a few choice words I throw clothes on and drive to my mums to rinse the shampoo out of my hair and dry it.
then come back home to finish getting ready, only to find OH has decided to RIP THE WHOLE BL00DY BATHROOM out and we are getting a new one. Now normally I would be thrilled but 3 weeks before xmas it is the last thing we need.
So I flounce out and go to work, my usual journey to work is 40 mins, 2 and a half hours later I arrive in work (traffic) and burst into tears, no-one gives a !!!!!!. I ring OH who says he has just been to Wickes and bought a new suite - I have no idea what it is like, how it looks, whether it is what I would have chosen or anything.
It is being delivered tomorrow and his friend is fitting it this week. Then we need the walls plastering, tiling etc and the kitchen ceiling replaced (absolutely sodden) AND a new boiler. and it looks like I'll have to move to my mums for a few weeks til it's done cos we still have no hot water or heating.............
AAARGGGHHHH.........I should be grateful of a new bathroom but AARRRRGGGHHH......men and their bl00dy implusive decisions...!!!!0 -
MV - sorry your boss is being such a tool! I would be tempted of going over his head or cc'ing HR into the emails. Hang on in there, not long left now! You have to do what's right for you and the baby and if you feel you'll be putting youself at risk then you've made the right call.
Alamaya - I know what you mean about the snow, I have a hospital appointment tomorrow that I don't want to miss so I will not be doing a snow dance!!
Dusty - hugs hugs hugs!! What is it with men and plumbing? Mine is obsessed. He has declared war on it because we have a banging pipe which has been banging for the best part of 6 years! Enjoy the time at your mums if you decide to go x
The postman has just been and he has his shorts on!:eek:
Anyway, must go and get dressed as I think I'm getting too attached to my dressing gown these days.Virtual Sealed Pot 2013 #41 - £69.27OJ born 25/01/110 -
Morning ladies, I am also snuggled up at home today, as snow has finally arrived in London. Have got antenatal class tonight, but OH has promised to hold my hand the whole way if its slippery.
Welcome to all the newbies, especially those joining from the <12 weeks board, it can be a bit daunting at first joining the big class, with a little bump.
MV - hang in there, you're in touching distance of your maternity leave now, hopefully while you are away your boss will learn some appreciation of what he's missing.
Dusty - that's a heck of a morning to have and its only elevensy's time - my OH would never do that, he knows he'd be dammed to eternal wrath.
On-the-edge - are you one of the rhesus negative ladies? I know there's two or three of us on here. If so, the antibodies in the blood means you may have had a small internal bleed that you have reacted to, I think they just give you another Anti-D to top-you-up so to speak. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

Sounds like a fun morning, glad your mum lives near by!0 -
I would'nt say i love it but i dont mind it. I was looking forward to being off but i'm not sure why i kind of feel guilty being off. Mad i know i just cant explain it. At least today with the snow we have had (not loads but enough) can justify me staying in doing nothing.
I am feeling exactly the same!! Its doing my head in, feeling guilty??FOR WHAT??Now a mother to my beautiful daughter OliviaBorn 10th Dec 2010 weighing 7lb 1oz:A

Dusty you have my sympathy hun. Upheaval is not good when you are feeling like we all are at the moment. Try to put it on his shoulders and just move to your Mum's with a washing your hands of it attitude for your own sanity. Tell him you will come home when it is all brand spanking new and ready for you!0
