The cheap TENS in Lloyds pharmacy are not maternity TENS, which have a booster button for use during contractions. Go with MamaTENS rental.0

I would go, here they get a new mum in with baby and they feed in front of you so you can see the real thing. I've done this, I thought i would be dead embarassed, but not at all.Hi all. Still here after 2 pessaries and if anything I'm going backwards. Gone from 1cm yesterday to "closed to 1 cm" an hour ago. I've to get another pessary tonight and if still nothing then maybe a section. Not even a twinge. Haven't cried again yet which is a result.
Hugs, honey.Princess_Coupon wrote: »Are they not going to give you the drip before a c-sec?

I thought that. I was in on the Thursday being given pessaries and nothing really happened and then they gave me the drip on the Saturday!
Its unusual for them to go straight to section.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Argh sometimes are too many posts I want to multi quoteHow do you go about booking the classes? Is it generally done through the midwife??? I have my 24 week appointment in the morning and wasn't sure if I need to ask??
We're also going to the waterbirth class at the hospital as my midwife recommended it as the midwife that takes that class has delivered a lot of water birth babies. And OH is going to the dads only classNeither of these are pre-bookable either.

just got back from visiting my usually grumpy FIL (think 77 year old teenager), who was actually in quite a good mood. Fortunately didn't stay too long as even after just an hour in his house I absolutely stink of ciggies from head to toe (this will have to stop if he wants a cuddle with his grandson!)
Anyway, when I got home I found a big parcel waiting - with something roughly translated as birth package written on the side, from my insurance company. So, very curious, I ripped it open; first a cute dinosaur cuddly toy, a book of advice/games/activities for with the baby, advice on baby-proofing the house..so far so good......
And then.....
lots of mattress protectors for during the birth, gauze swabs, surgical gloves, surgical alcohol and an umbilical cord clamp....:eek:
I don't think anyone told them I'm going for a hospital birth!!
Actually there are 2 packs of maternity pads, which I've seen people discussing - so I guess these will be really useful....and also some weird stretchy knicker things that looked like bandages at first.... maybe to use with the pads....????!?!?
That is so cool. Is that from your work? The knickers might just be the disposable knickers? Could be useful. The mattress protectors will be useful for if you're waters break while in bed...although some people don't like using them because of the crinkly noises.

I also got the 2 free eco nappiesBaby Giz born 6/2/110 -
I rented mine from tesco pharmacy, think it was 30-40, could easily extend the rental period if need be. I think they all tend to be the same money.0

They do say 6 months, but they look like they are sized pretty small to me - I think most of their kids stuff is. My average sized just-turned 2 year old is bursting out of his age 3 coat from there. It looks like it would fit the 3 month old I was cuddling this morning, but not the 5 month old. (That's the best thing about second and subsequent babies - you get to cuddle lots and lots of snuggly babies at toddler groups while you're waiting for your own to show up :rotfl:)0

i was goiing to multi-quote then realised most of them had been answered.
Re: buggies for a toddler this is the fav among me and my mates at the moment.....although it can only be used from 6month baby+
been to midwife today and got to hear tinywiggles heartbeat and she re-assured me that i can throw a lot of medication at my body before 'she' will come to any harm. In her words "they like to cause us as many problems and worries as they can yet it takes a lot for us to make them feel that bad!"
itching is almost controlled now and dr has lowered my steroids to see if they still work on a lower dosage, signed off work another 2 weeks to ensure they are having the desired effect.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

I bought mine from e-bay. It was a boots maternity one. It was used for me twice & about 5 or 6 friends (all once or twice) we just bought replacement pads each time. I then resold on e-bay for around the original price I paid!
One tip though is to make sure it has batteries in it very early on. One friend borrowed it, she went into premature labour, they took the machine into hospital & her OH went to the hospital shop but they did not have the right size batteries!0
