TBH, if I'd been offered any information or support on BF before the birth, I'd have jumped at it - it was the only thing I really struggled with with DS, and a bit of support and knowledge goes a long way.
I'm not doing any antenatal classes this time, but last time they were fine, and after the first session it wasn't awkward at all. It's not like being back at school, and you won't get called up to the blackboardThe only weird thing I encountered was one lady in the class. I was the only woman there on my own, and every time the midwife said "husband", or "partner", she grabbed her hubby's arm and looked at me like she might catch something :rotfl:
We had a good giggle about it at work, and hatched a plan to turn up with two of my workmates, one posing as the lesbian lover, and the other the black sperm donor armed with turkey baster, because we wanted a brown baby.... wish we'd done it, she would have had a fit.0 -
Hi all. Still here after 2 pessaries and if anything I'm going backwards. Gone from 1cm yesterday to "closed to 1 cm" an hour ago. I've to get another pessary tonight and if still nothing then maybe a section. Not even a twinge. Haven't cried again yet which is a result.0

On the subject of funny dreams, I had a dream last night where I had to choose between Chuck and Dan from Gossip Girl - I chose Dan ergo I am clearly a moron, I want to lick Chuck Bass...

Oh, CL, that must be so frustrating! Come on baby, get a move on, your mummy doesn't like sitting around in hospitals, even if you do!0

Hi all,
just got back from visiting my usually grumpy FIL (think 77 year old teenager), who was actually in quite a good mood. Fortunately didn't stay too long as even after just an hour in his house I absolutely stink of ciggies from head to toe (this will have to stop if he wants a cuddle with his grandson!)
Anyway, when I got home I found a big parcel waiting - with something roughly translated as birth package written on the side, from my insurance company. So, very curious, I ripped it open; first a cute dinosaur cuddly toy, a book of advice/games/activities for with the baby, advice on baby-proofing the house..so far so good......
And then.....
lots of mattress protectors for during the birth, gauze swabs, surgical gloves, surgical alcohol and an umbilical cord clamp....:eek:
I don't think anyone told them I'm going for a hospital birth!!
Actually there are 2 packs of maternity pads, which I've seen people discussing - so I guess these will be really useful....and also some weird stretchy knicker things that looked like bandages at first.... maybe to use with the pads....????!?!?0 -
That sounds horrible to me. Hope we don't have to do any speaking or anything. The impression I got was we just sit and listen in ours, which suits me fine. I'll leave the questions to OH. I've got 2 weeks yet until my first one.
We had our first class last night too, Don't worry Giz, you're not expected to know anything, after all that's why you are there. Likewise we started off with a group game just to break the ice, get to know each other. I think they realise that many people come to the classes to meet others locally in the same situation, so try to help facilitate that.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Anyone else got their free Vertbaudet bodysuit today? Got mine. It's very nice, shame it's for 6mths old though - it's huge! For some reason I thought it was a newborn bodysuit, silly me0

Thanks for that - I think I will go, it's just so late and I'm so tired and sore with SPDdustystar02 wrote: »What an error - Chuck is hot - you will have to haev a re-dream again tonight.
I know! I've had a similar dream before, and I again didn't choose Chuck - he was devastated. So was I when I woke up! What is it with my subconscious that it won't let me have rude dreams about him?!My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
