When I opened my account they gave me a credit-card sized piece of card with my security number printed on it. I filed this away with all the other bumph they gave me. What has happened to yours?

Oops - just checked and it is the customer number on that card. I did, however, make a note of my security number before I lef the bank.

Opened an account today in Fulham. Very odd as felt like I was in a goldfish bowl to the amount of glass in the building.

I took passport, driving license, a current account statement and utility bill. The guy opening the account was confused by the current account statement as it was from a building society. So used driving license as the second address ID. (I've lived in my address more than 3 years but thought it was best to take a load of documents with me.)

Got a bag and cool bag as a free gift for opening the account and putting £50 in it.

Entire process took about 30 minutes.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

I've now been with Metro Bank for nearly 8 months and I am most happy with them. It was great going to Berlin at easter and getting the best exchange rate with no commission.

The Metro Bank is still a new bank, even tho its a year old soon, they need time... and look at there website very basic in design, something i wouldn't trust for online banking regardless of the little (https) Logo.

They just need time and given the fact the debits cards are made in the branch ? (i do not like this..) because several of my friends have there cards and some are smudged some not printed right and so on.

Just need time its a new bank (bound to have mistakes)

The dubious quality of the graphic design on their website bears no relationship to the technical elements of web security. Why on earth would you think that it does?

Metro Bank's online banking runs a bought-in application used by many banks around the world. It's one of the more advanced ones on the market.

Just saying it looks basic because its 'new' give them time and that website will look awesome.

I welcome the new competition and free overseas cash withdrawals provided by Metro.

However, their website is still virtually unusable & resembles something Noddy might have done as a school project.

Half the time it does not log me on & when I do get in, there is ALWAYS a warning stating "There is a problem with the system. Please contact the System Administrator". They are not wrong....

Worst bank website ever & I've used a few.

I was planning to use this as my main current account, but will not do so until they get the problems sorted.
