Buyer wants to pay by Pay Pal at Collection

I have a buyer for my Plasma TV sold last week on E-Bay as a buyer to colect item.
My Buyer has a long string of apparently good feedback (as do I) but will only pay with Pay Pal.
The buyer wants to check the TV is is adescribed and only then pay with pay pal, then take the TV.
What are the issues I face with this? He wants to collect tomorrow.
Obviously Im worried that he will collect the TV and then make a INR claim on his pay pal.
I asked him to pay cash on collection and his response was that he wanted to use Pay Pal for His protection.
I had thought that it was unlikely he is a scammer because of long list of good feedback but as the TV is sold without warranty I dont see how he benefits by using Pay Pal.
I had thought that if he signed a receipt to say he had inspected the TV and recieved it from me, I'd be covered in the event of INR claim as I'd have proof of it being taken - but now I'm not so sure. This is my first ever Collect in Person item and I'ts not going straightforward as I thought it would.
Advice please?

There is nothing at all you can do to protect yourself against a claim here, forget bits of paper or receipts.
Unfortunately buyer is allowed to use paypal, if you really don't want to take it all you can do is withdraw from the sale and risk a neg, posisbly non selling buyer complaint and get stuck with your FVFs.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Did you list as Pick Up only or pick up availble? If you do then you have to accept paypal.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

This is the reason I no longer sell on ebay. You HAVE to accept paypal. The only thing I'd suggest is be open with the buyer and due to the common paypal on collection then INR scam, if they need to pay paypal then you need to have it shipped by a trackable method...even if they live round the corner!
Prehaps offer them a discount for cash, or ofer to go halves on postage costs. You risk the wrath of ebay, but better than losing your item AND money.0 -

On the contrary, the OP should definitely not "forget bits of paper or receipts.".
They may not prevent a paypal INR claim but if the buyer were to do that, I would want something to show that the buyer HAD received the item when I took them to court.0 -

Yes it was listed as "buyer to collect only" and I also made reference to the goods only being suitable for collection by buyer due to the nature of the goods
There was no offer of delivery at all.
What difference would this make please?0 -

Surely though the cost of a handwriting expert to prove the signature on the bit of paper was in fact the same person whose account it was on ebay would be prohibitive?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It makes no real difference at all except that paypal state that their service is not suitable for items that cannot be posted/delivered with online tracking and a signature available online.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes but civil court is balance of probability, only in a criminal proceeding would it be necessary to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. I'd have a paper trail and a bank deposit showing that member made the deposit and all their e-mails too, so would be very doable provided I could locate the person and that they could pay the court0 -
Don't forget to record the serial number/s etc, perhaps take some very clear photos (dated) of the condition of the TV also.0
