just spoken to the halifax and they are adamant about the 4 weeks to investigate the matter, so told them that we will be placing them on notice after the 14 days expires.
the 7 day letter placing them on notice to issue, do we send that 14 days from the date we sent the previous letter or 14 days from the date the bank acknowledged recipt of the letter?
sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help0 -

14 days since the date you sent your first letter0 -
Yesterday sent letter giving 14 days notice for refund of £930. Didn't need DPA letter as had all my old statements (don't ask me why). Also convinced my girlfriend to take on HSBC and she sent the DPA letter off yesterday. Both sent recorded delivery. Fingers crossed.0

Brought back memories of previous jobs seeing my wages being paid into my account. The best when i was a glass collector. A weeks wage of about £30. All taken up from one charge..
LoL :rotfl: mate.
They sent me 223 sheets of paper, in 45 A5 envelopes for a fiver. Quick and friendly service too via Halifax customer care.
Just proves what a nonsense and rip-off it is to charge £39 to bounce a direct debit!!!

i'm going to start this now, halifax have made me really angry today! i've probably only had one other charge in 6 years but today i have been charged £58 just for being over my limit by £40 for only one day!! it's £30 for paying the direct debit, then £28 because it took me over my limit, and then the extra interest charged at higher rate but that shouldn't be too much because i was only over for one day. but really, £40 over for one day brings me £58 in charges, it's just silly and while i was not going to claim before today i am now definitely going to do it! my husband was planning on doing it anyway, but now i'm joining him and am really fired up with getting so cross about the charges today. if they had onl;y charged me once i might have taken it on the chin, but not two charges. :mad:52% tight0

Just a quickie question on interest.
For all charges claiming back. (overlimit fee, direct debit refusal etc), do i just enter the charge amount and date in the interest calculator.
I am claiming back £678 in charges and have my interest at £123.22. These charge go back the whole 6 years so there is interest of £10 on some charges..
Does this sound about right?? Or am i doing something wrong?
Thanks0 -
Well done all who got their money back.
2 questions
1 Has anyone had their accounts closed down because of this?
2 If anyone has had any charges after a claim, what were the charge amounts?
ThanksS!!!!horpe0 -
I'm sorry if anyone has previously answered this question but after signing the form to accept an offer Halifax have made to me, how long does it take for the money to appear in your account?0

Hi,
I sent the letter to the halifax requesting they refund my bank charges-(£1500) with the interest calculator.
I have today had a letter back advising me that they will not be refunding and that under the terms and conditions of the account they can levy charges when insufficient funds are in the account. They will not refund as there is no error on their part...
Is this a normal response and are they right?
thanks0
