Don't be too disappointed Seaxwyn - there will be a shortened version!
My last mortgage payment for this house came out today.....so my signature has been updated. I have managed to clear the grand sum of £18,052.58 from my debt (whether mortgage or non-mortgage) since 1st December last year - so my starting point for the next 12 months is £178,475.86 total.
I have been working to my "envelope" system for several months now, which is working reasonably well, and has kept my eye on the ball, which is good news going forward.
My aims for the next 12 months are not so much money-focused as "life" focused, but of course the two go hand in hand because if I spend too much enjoying life, then I will be back to square one, moneywise, before I know it, and that just won't do!
So......aims for the year to 1st December 2011, moneywise are (or at least include):- Devise new workable budgets once house move is complete
- Be able to continue paying a cleaner.....and aim to pay someone to do the damned ironing too.
- Having cleared all remaining debt on moving house, ensure that no further debt is accrued.
- Overpay my mortgage by a small amount each month, with the aim of putting myself in a good position for when my fixed rate comes to an end in 2013. However, not to overpay to such an extent that I find myself short.
- Put half any bonus that I receive into "proper" savings.....
- .......and enjoy spending the other half

Well done Hypno! What a turnaround from your first year or so on here. So glad to see hard work and good sense making such a difference in someone's life. I need to take several more leaves out of your book.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Your own debt has almost halved in the same period (Dec 06/Jan 07) to date, Seaxwyn, so I think we are all doing pretty well, and of course from our "original" challengers.....OO is debt free and sunning herself, and Taxi is well on her way to being mortgage free too so big pats on the back all round!
OK, curve balls have been thrown, and certainly I don't think either myself or Taxi expected 2010 to throw up what it has done, but the fact is, that one way or another, we are making progress.....
Of course it is still a struggle at times - and I have a way to go - for example I still have nothing in savings to see me through an emergency with the car or anything, but compared with this time 4 years ago when I couldn't sleep for worrying, and had nightmares about bailiffs turning up on the doorstep, I agree that the difference is huge!
And, once again, I have to say that if it wasn't for this site and the people on it, old and new, it wouldn't have happened - I made no progress in the previous 6 years, so can't imagine for a moment that I would have stuck with it without MSE and its support :money:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hypno, what a great plan for 2011! And the difference in your life situation is almost magical, isn't it - I understand the worry about no savings, but you've already got half your bonus allocated to that ....
I must do a 1st December spiel myself - my diary is much older than your current one, but its getting near to the point when they ask you to start a new thread, and I was going to start one anyway, but the accounts got in the way....

Looking good good good
Ditto what Beanie said...
My only thought was would it give you some security to pay into a (as you say) 'proper' savings rather than over pay the mortgage, even if it is only a small amount you were going to pay? Once you get to your 'safe' savings figure (shouldn't be too long with adding half the bonus too) then the mortgage could be started on... just a thought but you have worked so hard and you are now where you want to be and the only 'feelings' coming off the page at me are your need for security should something unexpected turn up.
I really wish you lots of fun going forward, my own life needs a lift in that direction but sadly its been so long I kind of wonder what I enjoy, what I want to do etc etc so I need to do some brain storming in the areaany tips gratefully received....
Take care
