Hypno, you sound like you are making great progress.
Our attic is stuffed, my hubby insists on keeping all the old packaging off electrical goods etc in case they need to be returned, and then after the guarantee period we always forget to throw them out. I think it is a case of out of sight out of mind.
Good luck with the rest of it.0 -
I have stopped for a coffee break - and am pleased to report excellent progress is being made. The loft is almost empty, and we have been sorting a lot of stuff as we go - so there are 5 bin bags ready to take to the tip, plus a load for the charity shop already sorted, which I will deliver on Friday when I have a day off work.
Why, though, we had so much crap up there, I really don't know - what is it about keeping boxes and boxes of old study notes??? Ah well, those were easy boxes to clear, sort and recycle!
We do have to go through everything bit by bit though - there are things we have found that we would have hated to throw out, so it really is a long job, but one that will be a job well done by the end of the day!
Excellent progress Hypno :T
As for the why we keep so much stuff up there? It seemed important to keep at the time or we were putting off the inevitable getting shot of or we were tidying it away in a hurry and it was the easiest option at the time :rotfl::j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
I think most of it was definitely tidying in a hurry in a sort of "out of sight out of mind" type thing.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Great progress!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I did my loft too in the summer all the stuff strewn across the garden so much stuff for such a little loft as we sleep in most of the loft but it was a lovely feeling when it was done and I know what is up there now and where it is.
You are doing a grand job

I think mine IS the loft insulationA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

The loft is empty :j
One trip to the tip has been done, and we are about to go and buy DS some school shoes, so will return home via the tip again.
Much has been sorted, and XOH will come round later today to go through his things and take what he is going to take, and whatever he doesn't take will move across to the charity shop pile.
I've got a couple of boxes of papers relating to my dad's estate and my grandmother's estate that need to be gone through, sorted and stored properly, so I will try and do that this evening, otherwise one evening during the week.
All in all I am very pleased with what we have done - DD has worked really hard too, and whilst we are shattered already, I think it has been worth the effort!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
