Ooooo, fab thank you. That one looks like its made out of halloween tights and I'm sure my DD had a pair just like them last year. I might try and get creative tonight if I can find them :j

  • My elf has been dispatched and only cost me 12 quid as had PayPal cash back through my supermarket. Ordered the girl as we already have Dudley which is a soft elf but told the kids as Dudley was so naughty last year. Santa may send a head elf to keep a eye on him this year so we may have a girl elf keeping watch and then Dudley can get up to mischief as he wants. My little girl has already named her Holly, (not told them another elf is coming yet for definite) I have also going to preorder the elf on the shelf DVD and then it will all be packaged together with passports, letters from Santa etc, when they ring the door bell some night in December.

When does the Elf's normally come to stay? Week before , two weeks or soon as December hits. We plan to have the elf on the shelf in the house and then take Dudley out and about with us on days out so he can join in on our christmas fun x

  • Hi all, this will be the third year that Jingles and Belle Christmassy will be joining my 2 girls (12 & 5). I am so glad i found this thread as I was starting to run out of new ideas last year. The elves have certainly made the christmas spirit alive in our house the past two years. What an amazing tradition to have started, and I would love to think my girls will carry it on with their own children in years to come. I have already started a spreadsheet with my planned elfcapades. They arrive december 1st, along with tickets to go see nativity 2 at cinema (its a must, David Tennants in it - oh and im sure my girls will love it too!). Elfs can get expensive, which is why I like to plan it out, we have one "big spend" gift from them each weekend, and rest of time they get upto mischeif, leave little treats or craft activities, and quite often Belle will do some cleaning up - my eldest labled her belle-c-d last year! roll on december :rudolf:
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.
  • Just bought my first elf :-)

This is the last year of my children believing in the whole magic of Christmas so I want to make it extra special.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

why do you say last year of believing? this doesnt have to be the last year - i no people who have teenagers and they still do the whole elf thing to keep the fun of christmas there - although the teenagers know its mum, they still cant wait to see what the "elf" has done that night.
due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

I have got a few gifty things organised for Rudi Gingersnap to be giving this year.

She has got some lovely gift cards, inside is a little verse explaining why the gift was chosen for each of my girls along with a bracelet (the gift), these will be 'posted' the week before she arrives to stay. (just need to think of something for my nearly 2 year old boy)

(I tied to copy the image of the front of the card but it wont let me)

I made all the documentation myself (well with a bit of hubby help) and so the format for the giftcard will be the same as the 'official' paperwork!

She is also adopting reindeer for them and will have reindeer food presented with the adoption certificate!!

They will also be getting a behaviour report (complete with official seal off Alabaster Snowball, head of naughty/nice list). xx

My children are 14, 12, and 11. The eldest 2 have severe/moderate learning difficulties and would believe forever if I let them - seriously, they would expect an elf to magically come to their children :rotfl:.

Although I call them my children they are actually my long term foster children and because of the many complexities of their early life experiences we will not be able to continue with the santa story - they are very black and white on everything and I know that once they know the truth that will be it.

It's sad, as much for me as for them, but it is for the best that I tell them next summer as their youngest brother won't be very gentle about it!

Therefore this Christmas WILL be the best :j:j:j

Just thought I'd post this incase anyone is interested. I've just bought a nice Rudolph the red nose reindeer board/dvd game from home bargains for £4.99. Thought our elf could bring it for my daughters to play (and their mummy!) :)
