It seems that they dropped the ball there too, perhaps Tesco do it with all their releases? I don't know. As a customer the only thing I care about is getting my game on release day. All I know is that whenever I've used another retailer such as Gameplay, I've very often received the item on or before the release date.

Perhaps that's because Gameplay are based on mainland UK? Perhaps Tesco are not legally able to ship the items earlier just because they're based offshore? I don't know, but when I look at it in black and white, all I see is that Tesco aren't delivering on time, whereas Gameplay are.

you would need to see how folks got on with the likes of HMV,for comparison
  • We have not received ours today and the postie has been! I'd bought this for my other half so quite disappointed that it has not arrived. As others have said, I will not be buying preorder games from Tesco again. It surprises me how it has taken this long to deliver something that was supposed to some 1st class.

Of those that have received theirs today, does it say which day it was stamped and does it say that it was sent via 1st or 2nd class post?
Anyone else not received theirs today?

    Cheers

so how would RM do this?
they are perfectly capable of dealing with that
but 1st class isnt a guaranteed service
Tesco could easily have used RMs next day tracked service
    job done
so its down to Tesco what they choose to use.
RM cannot show favour over customers.
wouldnt it then do this for Amazon who use RM daily?
    but they dont

I really do appreciate what your saying - but unfortunately all I am bothered about is the simple fact that I made the reasonable expectation that a retailer like Tesco would have made certain the product would have reached on launch-day for those that ordered early enough.

I would have believed that extremely high profile titles of this nature generates a surge in the postal service (what do I know.. nothing, but .. ) and therefore some planning to not congest the system would have been expected on the part of RM. The last thing RM would surely wish for is 'blame' to be delivered onto their door.. but like the TE customer service said to me earlier, "We cannot tell you where it is, but we can tell you that it was was sent on Monday" and gave the impression that it was more RMs problem than TEs.
  • This really hacked me off yesterday.
I pre-ordered it early too, and haven't receieved it yet today.

Worst thing is, I went with Tesco over game. Game ALWAYS deliver on time. For the size and capabilities of Tesco,. this is poor to say the least.

To make things worst, it's my 21st today. I wanted to sit in, play COD, have my family over for a meal this evening then get smashed. BOO to you Tesco!
I really hope it comes with todays mail.. it's not here yet, but if it doesn't i'm going to be a little bit more angry.
  • I think in the main it comes down to Tesco not despatching early enough. I've never had a problem with Royal Mail delivery before so it must be the combination of heavy workload and the late despatch. I meant to say in my earlier post that the blame lies mainly in Tesco but is also in part to RM. Tesco have had the games for weeks already so it's not as if the supply chain caused this issue. Play.com are based in Jersey and every time I have pre-ordered there (big titles - MW2, Fable 2, ME2 etc) I have had it on or the day before release so it's not like it can't be done.

well from speaking to the guys there was no massive 'surge' that they noticed
in the scheme of RM its not really big numbers
eg on one delivery duty of 600-700 calls
i wouldnt expect to see more than 2 or 3 folks getting the game
RM getting the blame is pretty much standard procedure
like the xmas where Amazon made a whooha of using TNT over RM
then when TNT folded under the numbers,Amazon just dumped everything in RMs system on the 23rd and said it was all down to RM

there was a vent not long ago on Play failing to 'meet' a release date
  • Well, I have to say that the second post arrived a few minutes ago and a single package dropped down. I guess many of you also ordered a PSN Credit or XBL Points card with it.. so I was more than a little reluctant to open the box only to discover the scratch-card box inside instead of the game. Well, everything has turned out fine -) and I finally have the game! Better a day late than two or more! RM all is forgiven .. TE - *never* again! The PSN Card can take as long as it likes ..
