I was looking for shot glasses too, but found them to be a little on the expensive side. All other types of glasses are cheap tho- go figure:rolleyes:
Anyway, I went out sat night for a couple of drinks, and guess what I found- shot glasses.
Well, they are plastic and blue, but they were free. People just leave them lying around after they have finished with them. I bagged about 8- my bag was a little sticky when I got home, but at least I didn't pay for them:j

Tesco sell a 6 pack of shot glasses for £2.47, thats not a bad deal.

Just had a good idea for a hamper for my brother at a low cost.

Every friday he finishes work early and goes to Costas to have coffee and chat to friends. I decided to make him up a Coffee Shop Regular hamper, with a beret (for looking like a Hep Cat), an arty novel to read (£1 from Bargain Books!), maybe his own coffee mug, or a little bottle of syrup for flavouring coffee - and the best bit a voucher for Costas thanks to Pigsback! I've only been a member for over a week and have 320 so i think I should easily get enough for a £5 voucher before Christmas!
  • All my soap and bath bomb stuff has (finally) come from eBay and I plan to get crafty this weekend! Mr Vickitoria is away and won't be there to interfere! Honestly, if I got all this stuff out in front of him he'd be like a kid!!

I am also inspired to make some HM Vodka and Jam/Curd/Fudge for grandparents and I am away alot in December (New York AND Center Parcs) so wont have a lot of time to make all this then. Are you sure if I make it now it'll last? Even the fudge? Don't really want to freeze it as our freezer is packed!!

Also, I read a post about someone's massive batch of jam going off and they mentioned that it could have been because they didn't seal it properly - what is the correct way? And any cheap ideas for the jars? Bought some fab ones from Ikea for less than a quid for my bath salts but not suitable for jam.

    Help!

Toffee vodka.... take one bottle of vodka... pour a bit out of the bottle (I like to call this the chefs privilege!) Take a rolling pin to an unwrapped bag of Werthers Originals (or similar) and put them in the vodka. Shake bottle well and leave for a couple of days... hey presto... nothing left floating in bottle, and a lethal smelling drink!

Is the vodka supposed to stay muddy coloured? I've had a go at making this and I thought it might clear. Haven't tasted it yet though ;)
Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.
  • Hi ya, Ive made toffee vodka too, and mine is a muddy sort of colour - think it stays like this.
Have tired it, and its not bad at all !!! :)
  • Cheers Nickinoodle, I may have a little sample later

  • Mine is still muddy colour with a thick bit on the top - try sticking your finger in the top of the bottle!

  • If anyone is looking for bits for a "pamper hamper" take a look in their tescos.
Some of the toiltery items are being discontinued and I have just picked up two pink clear make up bags for 25p for the pair...and a small pack containing mitt/nylon scrub/hard scrub for 25p too...
    Great for putting into hampers.
  • I'm starting to buy bits as and when I see them for the three hampers I intend to make up:

    1) Spicy foody hamper - for my sis. She loves hot foods so I've bought the hottest Nandos Piri Piri sauce, the new 'extra hot' Pringles and a few other bits..
Any other suggestions for this one would be welcome.

    2) Calling all coeliacs - I'm making a gluten/wheat free 'treats' hamper for the SIL-to-be who's a coeliac. So far I've just bought a few things from the mainstream supermarkets, but if anyone can suggest other places to get items from, I'd be grateful.

    3) a weekend footy kit for my OH who is a season ticket holder at her hometown footy team and does a 250mile round trip every fortnight to see them (yes, that's dedication). I'm going to include wash items as she stays over at her parents' for one night, and a few 'home comforts' so she doesn't have to take a bag full of stuff each time, and 'useful' things like spare underwear and socks and things (!!)...

If anyone can suggest extras, or have seen BOGOFs and things, that'd be useful... thanks in advance!

Hi indiegirl, they do a large range of this stuff in my local chemist, just a little independent one, maybe worth trying your luck at your nearest?
    Good luck!
