    Hi

I love this thread. :T I never even thought of doing a hamper before. It really inspired me and I have made my own. We're lucky in Gloucester as we have a 99p store, a £1 store AND a £2 store!!! I went mad this weekend and bought loads of things for my hampers.

The baskets were a bargain - i got them from the 99p store. I've made four hampers (each costing £4 each) and four coffee cups (less than £1 each)!!!

    See my photos!

I've ordered a roll of cellophane from ebay to finish them off.

Those baskets are fab, I'm going to check out my 99p store for those.

I know, they're great aren't they. They also have a pack of three heart shaped baskets for 99p too!!

I've used them too. If you haven't got an ikea PM me and I will send you one for cost plus postage - I went a bit mad on my trip and bought more than I need!
  • These aren't bad from Woolworths online as suggested by Harriett - http://www.woolworths.co.uk/ww_p2/product/index.jhtml?pid=50680294 They would solve the being-able-to-see-inside-while-under-the-tree problem too! 5% at Quidco too.

On my overexcited Ikea trip (see above) I also bought one too many vases for like, £1-2 each. So I think I might use one of those for one of my hampers. The things I've got to go in it are quite small and will fit and that way my recipient gets a lovely vase too instead of a basket that will probably end up in a cupboard somewhere. If I add some funky shredded tissue paper or whatever I think it'll look quite festive!

Of course the other alternative is a stocking....
  • OK - I have finally managed to get the beginnings of two hampers together - sweets and some bath bombs to follow nearer to Christmas (the sweets will get eaten otherwise!)

    First one -

Cost a grand total of about £10 (including basket). I know the Boots spa kit is cheating a bit but I did get it free, on 3 for 2 with my Pigsback vouchers :T :T

Second one: A "night out night in" kit for my sister who has a little person so doesn't go out so often.

Again - the popcorn thing was from Boots so effectively free - will add sweets to this one nearer the time

I have my big roll of cellophane ready and waiting for wrapping these - just need 2 big boxes to put them in so I have something to wrap!

Both have got a pair of slipper socks - £1.50 for a pack of 2 pairs in Primark! :money: A pink thermal vest for £4 from there too. Most of the rest is from Wilkinsons!
    Debt free date - June 2008 :T :T :T
  • These look fab, well done.:T

    39p bread baskets

I just took a look on the Ikea site and these look good if you were going to have a go at a retro type hamper.
Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

tons of great ideas here.. I had planned on doing hampers a few months back, but with one thing and another never got started.. now I don't have much time left, rarely get out ( I have 3 kids, one 7 month old and don't drive!).. so most of my shopping is done online. I have started to go into work (we have our own business) and we work near a few shops, so can get a few bits, but not a great deal there, mainly takeaways and pubs!

I am attempting to do a Movie night in basket for my bro and his wife for about £10. May also do one for my sis and her boyfriend too. A 'slow cooker'meal basket for my Mum, in attempt to stop her eating rubbish out of the freezer, including out of date stuff. (She lives on her own and can't be bothered to cook), she does have a slow cooker, but doesn't use it. I've ordered a recipe book and will get some of those little plastic tubs so she can freeze individual portions ready to go in the microwave.. any other suggestions welcome...will also include labels for the tubs and maybe some ingredients...I have a little card from Organix with the dirty dozen on it.. the ingredients to watch out for.. she ignores the labels on food and moans when I read it all! I also might do a winter warmer/flu basket for my Gran (thanks to the post earlier), she's not long come out of hospital, can't walk very well, has a frame for in the house and a wheelchair for outside, she doesn't do a lot now, so any suggestions here would be great.

Also if anyone can suggest places to get some baking equipment for my 4 year old for a basket... I have a cookery book for her (Annabel Karmel kids one), some lolly moulds, also by AK, recipes are in book too.. so am on the look out for( as cheap as possible).. some child friendly scales that she can actually use properly, measuring spoons (prob get them in asda), mixing bowl (will probably package it all in that), I'll also get some ingredients, decorations for cakes etc. My Mum has got her some mini baking tins that can be used too... any other ideas?

Think that's it for now. I am really interested in doing the bath bombs, but haven't got the money to buy all the stuff and probably won't have time either, maybe next year... great stuff though and I adore that goldfish soap.. wonderful.
