Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Savvy Shopper!
Try wrapping in cling film then use a hair dryer to shrink it so it fits tightly round the basket. Maybe you could try another florist? Do you have a Hobbycraft near you, it was mentioned on here that they sell rolls of cellophane for £3 odd.

  • Thought this may be a better place for this post.

I've made lots of hampers over the last few years and have been racking my brains for something a little different.
My brother-in-law has mentioned on several occasions he would like to trace his family tree but wouldnt know where to start. :)

    Well; ...........
I've made up a hamper for christmas which I hope will help.
I've decorated a cardboard box with brown paper and my daughter has stencilled leaves all over it with a brown luggage label saying "Family Tree..Happy Christmas etc".

With tesco vouchers I have bought a book, Discover your roots for £3.25 of vouchers (worth £12.99) from www.infideas.com/freetime (page 39 of tesco voucher book).
I have added some blank cds (with cd labels my daughter has made up).
I've also borrowed family photos from his family and put them all onto a disc.
Put in a photo album in wh smiths sales with 25% off...really lovely old one (not the sticky sort).
Printed a few of the oldest photos off to start his book off (look on the freebie thread and you can get some printed for FREE from different sites..I used Truprint and snapfish)
Visited his mother/father and grandfather and took a dvd of a mini interview of what they did as children and talking about there family etc. While I was there I asked them to fill in a small memory book....i.e. what was your first child hood memory, favourite sweet, favourite tv programme, pastimes as a child, etc. etc.
I am in the process of looking through the internet for web addresses to pop into a little information book.
This cost me approx £15 and I'm really excited about giving it to him :)

Wow what a thoughtful and inventive hamper idea well done you - I am sure that your brother in law will be thrilled with this as so much thought has gone into it.

I've been reading this thread for a while and have to say I love it! I always try to start my Christmas shopping in the sales and after seeing the hampers on here decided to do one for my mum and dad. I've been like a mad woman scouring all the boots shops in all the towns I visit to see if there is anything nice reduced down (doing a pampering hamper). All I need to do now is get the basket to put them in. I'm thinking of baking cookies for friends. Any idea where I can buy small boxes to present them in, or alternative packaging? You always see them in American magazines but I've always failed to find a suitabe box for food here (maybe it's just me).

thanks - keep up the good work everyone.

hello there. i went to my local 'the range' store yesterday and they had rolls and rolls of materials.anyway,...they had some lovely material that was seethrough and i cant remember the flaming name of it now! the shimmery type you get round those fancy cadbury easter eggs, well its really wide and its only £1,50 a meter for the plain colours like lilac and blues, others were £3 a meter and a really pretty rainbow one was only £3 a meter too and you would get plenty to wrap up baskets with. then all you need to do it tie it with a bow or something at the top. hope this helps you! if you dont have a range maybe a co-op homestore or another material shop if its as cheap as £1.50 A meter!!!:D
