I don't think people can complain about someone just because they can, someone has to do something wrong .

You can't complain about things that are legal ,if i have any reason to complain about anyone i will but i want a result or an apology.

Sorry, but people CAN complain about anything they like! And people DO complain about anything they like. Whether their complaint is justified is another matter, whether they can get a 'result' is another matter, and whether the person they are complaining about has done anything illegal is immaterial!

I used to work for a Housing Association. Trust me, people put in complaints about perfectly reasonable and legal behaviour, which wasn't even causing a nuisance.

You may have to accept that your neighbour doesn't like you / the minibus / the extension / the cats. Next week it may be something else. We don't live on your street, so we don't know if their complaints are justified / reasonable, but actually they could still continue to make complaints even if they were told that it wasn't justified / reasonable. People aren't always rational!

And THAT is the way it is.

Whether you can win this person over is another matter, but probably not if you won't speak to her.

She won't speak to us as we have said earlier ,and yes i guess she can complain but more fool her if she has nothing better to do .

She should spend more time thinking about whether her daughter should of been smoking since she was 15.

And wondering how she has a mother who at 75 is so common walks past our house and sticks her fingers up ,we only know that because we just happened to be looking out the window at the right time.

When we had the garage built she said you are only allowed to go so high with the breeze blocks and we had gone too high, wrong again silly woman did we take any down NO did we get a completion certificate YES.
  • OP, I know what you mean about when the NFH won't speak to you - we have tried and tried to be neighbourly and talk to them reasonably but to no avail. We have even knocked on their door to tell them when they have left car lights on, offered to lend them jump leads when their car doesn't start - what more can you do? Some people just obsess and cannot be reasoned with no matter how rational you are!

I have been called names in the supermarket by other members of the family and all because we are having an extension. They even thought we should pay them money in order for them to agree to the party wall act!!

Not often a thread gets me so inensed but having read the thread I have to agree that there is a neighbour from hell here.

I wouldnt want to live next door to the OP. The attitude of 'if you dont like it, its tough' stands out a mile.

There is complete disregard for the other persons feelings and clearly a lot more history to this fued than we will ever know.

It also seems very childich and righteous, 'Im not going to speak to her because she clearly dosnt want to speak to me' belongs in the playground.

OP, your neighbour is obviously upset by your actions. Be an adult- sort it out instead of gloating about her in here.

It's true that there are some people who won't respond well to friendly overtures, but I've always taken the view that if someone doesn't want to speak to me, that's their problem, and I don't have to make it easy for them.

So, a friendly wave and hello whenever you see them, a card at Christmas, a "can I help" if they seem to have a problem - on the whole, what have you got to lose?

I was sympathetic up till the whole 'my cats poo in their garden but so what' attitude.

My complaints are annoying but so what?

Hmmm... can anyone see the difference here? I can't. I'd say you both need yoru heads banging together tbh.
  • And you think that constitues a neighbour from hell?! Believe me you know nothing, my neighbour never complains about anything I do she prefers to make up stories herself and complain to the housing office who has taken to ignoring her thank god. When I dared to complain about her hammering and drilling at 1.30am her live in boyfriend came at me and threatened to beat me up (I'm female), the police got involved and an assault case made no difference she still goes past my house glaring at me, makes enough noise at night and at 5-6am to wake the dead and now has a dog that barks all day long. And no she's not young she's getting on for 60, so if you want to swap neighbours please let me be first to offer mine :p

I have to agree with tiamai_d about banging both you and your neighbours heads together. It sounds like at some point one or other of you have got the hump over something minor and I bet neither of you know what it is. A simple conversation could solve this

By the way, in case you're tempted to say it's your neighbour who is unreasonable take a look at the what I've highlighted below. All of these are posts you've made in this thread and have made me feel sorry for your neighbour

I live next door to the neighbour from hell, firstly objected to our planning consent perfectly legitimate Stone Garage spoiled her view but it got approved .
Next she complained to the enviromental health because my cats go to the toilet in her garden. They followed up her complaint but laughed with us.
Next i hear through the grapevine she has made a complaint about my business which she can do nothing about as i am within the law .

    What next i wonder?

    Anything i can do ?

I don't have a problem with them other than there petty complaints which just don't stand up.

If they have issues with us they should talk to us, i dont think we should go and talk to them as they clearly don't want to talk to us.

In fact maybe we should go round i would love to hear her reasons why she would worry if we were licensed or not, what business is
    it of hers anyway.
It never crosses my mind to see if shes qualified in her work .
    Its none of my business.

It's your business causing the problem so yes you should ask how it is affecting your neighbour.

Anyway they did know as we did tell them ,when we were talking of course.

They just thought it would be situated differently, and anyway you have to do whats right for you in the long run as they could of moved the next year ,you can only listen to their view .the council listened to their objections and we all had to abide by their decision.

But your neighbours obviously didn't move and you've left you're minibus somewhere that wasn't previously agreed. You are coming across as aggressive on an internet forum so goodness knows how you come across in real life.

From what I've read you have done things that have upset your neighbour but you are expecting them to resolve things. Objecting to planning permission and questioning the rights to run a business are perfectly within your neighbours rights and they are following the correct way to challenge this.
  • Only a 'special' kind of person would report something as petty as a cat pooping in their garden to the Environmental Health Dept. What an overreaction and a waste of time and resources.

I think that alone shows what kind of person OP is dealing with.
