Complaining Neighbours

Sometimes, being the "Neighbour from Hell" can be somewhat justified.
But equally, being on the receiving end of their complaints can feel a bit like a hate campaign.
I can see both sides of this and I think that - as you seem to feel that you have the upper hand - you should kindly just leave well alone and stop being so gleeful about the fact that your/animals actions have a negative effect on your neighbour.
I am no doubt deemed to be our local neighbour from hell - and I feel that my actions are understandable*. I have a cat myself and I admit that I do not know here he poops - but I do know that all other cats (2 + 2 + 1) come to my lawn for a c**p - primarily because their own houses have had their gardens uglified with gravel and the cats tend to prefer grass *sigh*. One set of neighbours were away for over a week and their two went to cattery so not much pooping; it increased upon their return so I know it is them - but equally, I know there is nothing I can do (apart from clear it up). She was on a hiding to nowhere in speaking to Env Health but they should not have been so unprofessional as to have a laugh with you over the matter.
I live in what used to be a quiet country village on what was a realtively short cul-de-sac with a field, preserved trees and copse at it's head - but now my entire road has become chavvy in the extreme and this is largley driven by people not giving a stuff about one another, the neighbours or anything over and above their own immediate wants. Makes me very sad.
* Because - while not making an issue about the cat poop, I do have issue with numerous other things: intrusive lighting that is so senstive that a blowing leaf will trigger it, parking BLOCKING drives, swearing when asking blocking vehicles to move, people being precious about parking outside their houses but disregarding the wishes of other people when parking outside theirs (yes, I know that no-one owns the road - it's the double standards), running CO-producing-ancient sports car engines all weekend afternoon, creating a man-made dropped kerb [yay, let's all do it] to suit, thus also preventing parking outside their house, starting up a motor bike and leaving it running for ages while doing God knows what before driving off - at 6:00am. And if anything is mentioned, being told to eff off.

My cat since she first went out has never poo'd indoors, she hates to. You can never be sure where cats go
Really, cats do as they please, having cats themselves the neighbour will know this.
Yes there might be more to it but it's still really annoying to have neighbours that are always trying to set the authorities on you. I have a friend who has a 5 year old with ADHD and 2 younger children and her immediate neighbours are always calling her landlord and social services because they think she's too noisy. Never mind the fact that their nipper will sit revving his moped in the front garden close to midnight that doesn't appear to disturb his parents at all
There are just some people who think they have a right to make other peoples lives hell.
Maybe you should ask them if you've upset them somehow in light of all the visits you've had and see what they say!
I agree with you in principle.
But I am also looking from the other side - my 1 yr old niece stepped into cat poo in my garden!!! and my OH regularly brings cat poo on his shoes from our garden. All I seem to do is washing the floor.
And it is just 1 cat that does that (according to my OH), both sides of our neighbours have cats and those don't crap in our garden, so why the cat from the house behind us does?? Because she is not trained.
So I am looking at it from the other perspective.0 -
To the last post ,it all started with getting planning permission for a garage.
Since then she won't speak to us.
If she has issues she should talk to us but she won't.0 -
Did i read that right you think my cats should be trained .0

cats will cr*p wherever they choose. Not much you can do about it unless you're prepared to sit and take vigil at the window all day and night.
My cats no doubt cr*p in other peoples gardens, as do other peoples cats cr*p in mine.
You can buy stuff to try and keep them off, that's about it. You can't 'train' cats on where to go to the toilet.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Exactly to train them to use litter tray while they are indoors is right, but no cat is going to wait till you get home to go in the litter tray.0

Saying "cats crap wherever they choose and if it is your garden I don't give a damn" is definitely going to make your neighbours like you...
Especially if the people like their garden, like to play in it and look after it.
I don't get it - everyone hates dogs pooing on the public, shared streets by dog lovers and haters, but think it is acceptable that your cats go and poo on someone elses land??
How?? How is that justified?0 -

it's a bit easier to scoop up the poop if your dog sh1ts on the pavement/public park.
Short of keeping watch to see if your cat uses the neighbours garden to do a poo, and then shinning over the fence to clear it up, there's not much you can do.
As I said you can buy stuff to sprinkle on your flower beds that is meant to help. And keep your lawn cut as they are more likely to use it if it gets long and straggly.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
The enviromental health told us funny that when they live next door , thought they could of rang the doorbell ,and i would of said i don't like yours going in my garden either!
But she obviously did'nt want to discuss it with us did she ?
Well i would if i thought i could do anything about it , but ive never heard anyone teach a cat not to go in next doors have you?
And like the enviromental health said there is nothing that can be done cats will go where they want to go and i have to put up with other peoples cats in my garden.0
