Complaining Neighbours

Firstly they should of complained to us ,and we would talk to them they are the ones that choose not to talk to us.
And i am aware of the business complaint but i have not been spoken too about it yet but i am fully aware what it is and i have all relevent council and VOSA licences ,which are the issue .
They are clutching at straws!
They may say exactly the same though. You could just as easily go and speak to them as they could you.
People are often frightened now to speak to their neighbours. It's quite sad really.0 -
I can see both sides of this to some degree but to pick up on a point:
Why didn't the neighbour speak to you about any of it?
How about, why didn't you speak to YOUR neighbours when YOU intended to have building work done?
This was the very first thing i did when i started to consider building work.
It stopped a "SURPRISE" planning application landing on any of their doors. It also meant that any objections or thoughts they had were incorporated into the plan and stopped any upset off the bat.
People talking to each other and working things out make good neighbours.
Instead trivial things lead to idiotic expensive fights that do nobody any good at all long term.
As far as this reads, everybody loses. Now you have a neighbour that won't watch out for you if something goes wrong and you suspect them of having it in for you.
How is that good for either of you?0 -
I don't have a problem with them other than there petty complaints which just don't stand up.
If they have issues with us they should talk to us, i dont think we should go and talk to them as they clearly don't want to talk to us.
In fact maybe we should go round i would love to hear her reasons why she would worry if we were licensed or not, what business is
it of hers anyway.
It never crosses my mind to see if shes qualified in her work .
Its none of my business.0 -
Is this neighbour elderly?Sometimes you have to grit your teeth and try to make allowances.
Some people are very terratorial, and like to make sure everyone obeys the law.How does she know you run a business?0 -
Anyway they did know as we did tell them ,when we were talking of course.
They just thought it would be situated differently, and anyway you have to do whats right for you in the long run as they could of moved the next year ,you can only listen to their view .the council listened to their objections and we all had to abide by their decision.0 -
We went and spoke to all of our neighbours before we applied for planning permission and asked if they had any objections/reservations because we would rather try and address any problems before planning was applied for - our NFH said he didn't give a sh*t what we did! And then promptly shut the door in my face.
Don't think there is much you can do with some people if they don't want to enter in to adult sensible discussion. All of the authorities involved (planning, building regs, environmental health, party wall surveyors and the police) have all agreed we are not doing anything we shouldn't be doing - neighbour cannot be reasoned with and cannot see that what he is doing is unreasonable. Perhaps mental health issues??0 -

I was going to ask this. Also, does she live alone? No offence to anyone on here who does, but in my experience people who live alone have more time on their hands to dwell on issues, particularly about things in and around their home. They also dont always have someone else to talk to about things that are bothering them so they work things up in their minds into really big problems, when those with a family or whatever just have neither the time nor inclination to worry about things!
I dont think your neighbour is a neighbour from hell at all. She has voiced legitimate concerns and altho you may think they are over the top, you should just grin and bear it.
And as for harrassment...you've clearly never been harrassed!! 3 issues raised is not harrassment! If she complained monthly to the council about you then maybe, but this does not have the ring of an orchestrated campaign against you just yet!!!0 -
If I see a cat in my garden I let the dog out. I never see the same cat twice.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

I know exactly how you feel op....and until your on the receiving end of pointless annoying complaints people don't know what its like. I fell out with my neighbours because of a shared driveway- which they didnt want me parking on even though you can fit 4/5 cars on there. They then complained to my landlord that the front tree was hitting a telephone wire- lol... and my hedges were overgrown (which they are not!) and also I dont de-weed my side of the drive (that im not allowed to use.) They phoned benefits office and lied about me! They phoned water company to come round and get me to move car off the driveway because aparantly they needed access to the drain under the car...... complete pettiness! It really gets to you how someone can be so pathetic, I'm not a noisy neighbour and my kids are in bed by 7pm also are houses are detached from each other. I was considering gettin out an injunction against them for harrassment........ which I hopefully no longer need to do as one of them died few weeks back.....so just the husband left:p0
