  • Well done on resisting the dress, it will come into the sales or a discount code might pop up and you might be able to buy it online cheaper and go through a cashback site,i'm presuming its in a national store and not a small boutique type shop or what about selling some bits on ebay to raise the cash.

    Thanks Pennywise

I'd forgotten about cashback sites and its Oas*x and they're on Quidco so will wait until a voucher code becomes available and then check.

    A little update

I had to go and do some banking for work at lunchtime so I had a wander past Oasix and even popped in :o I had a look at said dress and its £50  Its not worth £50, old Choogirl would have parted with credit card and then wondered how to pay for it but the new improved (tight) Choogirl will now wait until the sale and then think about buying it if its still there (and if she has any money)

Thanks to Pennywise I checked my quidco account and I have £22.93 being tracked from my car insurance purchase in February which I had forgotten about so when that hits my bank account I shall be stashing it away in the new savings account!
  • See your now a hardened MSE, its good that you can now walk into a shop and see that an item is overpriced for what it is and will wait for the sales, i do think you deserve a treat now and again.

    Fab news about quidco.

    Good Evening

Thanks guys for all the lovely encouraging comments about my new found MSE ways, they have now become a way of life. I'm going to wait until the dress is in the sale and then buy it.

I am shattered, looking after 5 kids all day on my own was hard work!! Luckily the weather was decent so they played out in the garden but due to their constant demands for food, snacks, drinks etc I didn't manage to get all my jobs done but hey ho theres another day.

Just had a look at the survey site and its reached £10 so I've requested a M&S voucher which will go towards something for the kids.

Thats about it from me xx

    Good Morning

I apologise in advance as I am going to have a rant about DH.

He is driving me mad at the moment, he has done really well curbing his spending and not taking money out of the bank account but now that he can see the improvements he's starting to hint at buying items that aren't in the budget and are certainly not on my radar for this year.:wall:

Yesterdays hint at spending was to buy a new golf bag because his old one is damaging his clubs  He even informed me that he's having to use a cut up sponge to prevent them from getting damaged - AND? carry on using the sponge Mr Choo!!

I've told him that if he wants a new golf bag he has to either save up the money for it from his own allowance, sell something on ebay or sign up to do some surveys, None of these suggestions seemed to register with him so he can forget it if he thinks its coming out of the debt blitzing budget. I don't think he can see how the last 7 months has changed my mindset and messed around with my mental wellbeing!

I've been far too soft in the past - I will quite happily wear a t-shirt from Matalan or Mr A but DH will only buy items from Fatf**e or some other high cost shop!

I've decided now that whatever I earn from doing surveys or quidco will go into a nice little pot for the kids and myself and Mr Choo will have to fund his own extra purchases.

No more soft Choogirl, I'm even thinking of putting aside 10% of the cost of his golf subs for the kids and myself.

    Sorry rant over!!!
  • It is sooo difficult dealing with this together, my DH is okay but leaves EVERYTHING to me and that's a heavy burden to bear. Mind you as alpha females we have to sort things and are better when we are in control!!
As you say if he has an allowance and you don't have long to go to be DF then he needs to help.

    Good Morning

Polly - I totally agree that it takes two to work at it and he is good most of the time he just has the odd wobble and needs reining in. Anyway after having a bicker about it all yesterday he seems to have got the message that he needs to find a way of funding his extra purchases or do without.

I have been up since 7.15am this morning - on a Sunday  all thanks to a feathered friend sitting outside our window at 4am and shouting to all its birdie friends to wake up and join him in celebrating how wonderful the new day is. I had to close the window to drown out the sound but I can't sleep unless the window is open so the room got too stuffy, DH tossed and turned and I've been wide awake since 4am!
At 7.15am I'd had enough of trying to get back to sleep so I got up and I've done so much already.

    1) Bathed the kids
    2) Stripped the 3 beds including mattress and pillow protectors
    3) Taken our curtains down and washed them
    4) Hung the washing out
    5) Cleaned 2 bathrooms
    6) Mopped the hall, cloakroom, kitchen and utility room floor
    7) Taken some pork and apple sauce out of the freezer for dinner tonight.

Now I'm about to start and do some revision whilst the kids go out and play.

I'll be in bed so early tonight as I really need my sleep and feel deprieved if I don't get 7 hours a night.

I've also bought an annual pass for National Trust as I thought about borrowing the outlaws cards but with us not having a holiday this year we'll need something to do over the long summer holidays so I've just paid for our own membership and we can use it all summer, so this afternoon we'll be heading out to use our cards for the first time :T

DH and I can take a flask of coffee, make some juice for the kids and take a packet of biscuits from the cupboard so it will be a cheap afternoon.

I've also pinched this idea from another diary that I read last night so thought I'd use it on my own to keep me motivated.
