  • Hi Lenza, I'm sure everyone here will join me in welcoming you along!
Im sure since you have been keeping tabs on the thread that you know what we are doing, and how the weekly challenges work?
The current challenge is 'Reflection' which is due by tomorrow night roughly, so you will probably start seeing images being posted in the next few hours.

We kinda set a rule that any photos for the challenge have to be taken within the challenge week, to try to encourage us to be imaginative, and use our gear regularly, rather than posting an old photo from the computer which has been deemed cheating, although we would all be more than happy to comment and critique any other images you want to post in between times?

Good luck and maybe you will have something to post by tomorrow night? ;)

  • Welcome Lenza_Quidditch - Contemplates has explained it all very nicely, and I have added you to our list of participants on page 1!

I am stamping my feet in frustration here. I know the exact shot I want, it's one I've tried for before but have lost patience before achieving it, BUT it requires some good light with sunshine and blue skies to achieve....so far in the last fortnight all the days that meet the description I have had work, and so have been away from where I've needed to be! I shall have to request an extension and hope that the weather is more accommodating either Tuesday or Thursday!

Pippi - for the purpose of posting shots on here Flickr is not always terribly helpful - Photobucket seems to work better. However for general online photo-sharing Flickr is great. Webshots is another option - not so "Pro" but if that's not a concern for you then it might be worth looking at.

  • Pah... Cop out EH! ;) Ok I'm I'm looking forward to seeing your shot...I'm sure it's gonna be great?

Pippi when I started this I did a search for free photo sharing websites, and I came across Atpic.com .... I have been using them now and although the website looks basic, it does what it says on the tin, and being a low graphics site, loads pretty quickly and gives three different 'image size' links to post on the net. It's been very intuitive to use so far?

  • Thanks for the welcome both of you. I've just got in and am not feeling inspired tonight so I'll sit this one out and reread the thread :D. I'll also find out exactly what camera I've got :p. I've been wanting to learn how to use it for ages but didn't really know where to start so I'm looking forward to this.

  • Ok here are my entries. I couldn't choose between three shots so Im going to post them all.

I was out on a photo walkabout near my mums house where I grew up, and I noticed this poor door that is falling apart. It was the house of an elderly lady, who has long since passed, and when I was a youngster she often called me in to give me biscuits and lemonade. Seeing the door now really made me think just how times have changed, and how long ago it was since I was in the house...

Whilst walking I also found this graffiti and made me think " do these people think about what they are damaging, and why do they do it?"...600.jpg

and finally, i had to try to take a photo of Harland and Wolff cranes...

  • :T:T:T

Love 'em!! First one would be my pick of the three I think - I love the subject, the textures, and the processing. It would have been so easy to fall into the trap of processing that one into B&W - I'm glad you resisted as the turquoise colour REALLY works!

I'm SO cross about not being able to get my shot....you know when you get a REALLY clear idea in your head for a picture you want to get...well it's like that, but it is SO weather dependant!

  • Thanks EH... I'm enjoying having a play with Elements to try different techniques.

I know exactly what you mean about imagining that picture u want. Keep holding out for that good weather.... It'll come along someday soon - even if we aren't going to see it till next week?

I like the door shot....but the cranes edge it for me - I loved that I had to really *look* to see them :)
