As sellers you should be able to say when you can post and have the buyers accept it - if you can't post often they don't have to bid - but if they do it should be something they're prepared to wait for.
I clearly say when I have sold a few odd items that I'm ill and can't get to P.O. more than once a week - most have been ok about it but think I've lost a few marks here and there.
I can understand ebay have rules to try and protect buyers - but it seems that once someone has a problem with their account thats the end of it as far as ebay is concerned. I'm sure the fraudsters go in for things in a big organised way - but its the little sellers that seem to get penalised.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
I asked the ebay rep the same question earlier and in simple terms she said "tough" she didn't give her opinion though.0

Yes I think 'tpough' is about it!
They seem to be able to just dismiss people and bann them - and the epoepl have no right of redress at all - think when I was trying to sort things there wasn't even a phone number to ring - you just got the standard email replies to everything.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
You are not getting how ebay work. Ebay don't rate you - buyers do.
So buyer buys three things, two arrive in 3 days and one takes 8 to arrive, very few buyers will leave the same stars for all those transactions as they have a different view of them. Stars are merely a snapshot view of how they rate your service, I couldn't possibly rate someone posting once a week as perfect, yes I will have seen it in the auction but when I am asked to give my personal opinion I would rate that say 4* as it is not as good as I would normally expect from ebay sellers.
We all have issues that affect us sometimes, the trick is that for the majority of times we aim at getting perfect stars, and then if we do have issues or we meet a grumpy buyer who marks us down it doesn't hurt as much as one set of lower stars is outweighed but the generally excellent ones. However starting off with working at less that perfect means you have nowehere to go if you have any problems.
Very few people have prefect 5* across the board now and I generally consider anything at 4.8 + to be 'perfect' however to maintain that level the vast majority of stars left must be 5*. If you routinely get 4* then you won't survive on ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wouldn't buy from someone who wants my money now but can't be bothered or make the time to go and post it right now. It's bad business, let alone bad manners, to keep your customers waiting.
Postage charges don't bother me hugely, though I always charge fairly, but when you sell something, you should jolly well make the time to go and post it - after all, you probably expect the same of other people.
If you can't be flexible about posting, or live so far from a PO that you can't get there more than once a week or something like that, don't bother selling."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Thats a bit harsh Crowqueen - if I have to sell that way and my buyers are happy - who am I harming?
Sold a bag to France the other day and lady was delighted.
I always explain situation so no-one under any illusions. If they don't like it there are plenty of other people to buy off.
Its no different to someone announcing their away on holiday for certain dates.
As I have ME I have to rely on others to post - when it suits them - I used to post regularly whe I could get out.
Don't sell much anyway now so I'm not affecting anyone really.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -

Surely though no one would leave live listings if they were going away?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It sounds to me eBay are starting to be overly security minded, or are they there are so many conmen on eBay is it about time they got a bit more heavy handed.
I’m not trying to imply you’re a problem I mean just in general.0 -
No, I'm sorry, I am being harsh, but it's only because I'd move on and so would a lot of people.
If you're going away, pull your listings or put holiday settings on. If I pay you, I shouldn't have to wait for you to get back to me after your holiday. I should be your number 1 priority.
If you have to rely on other people to post your items, it's not a good idea to do it for any more than a few items. Otherwise you are responsible if they forget or use the wrong service or whatever. It's not a right to sell on eBay - it's a good way of making some cash, but if your buyers are marking you down, then they obviously aren't that happy with your service and eBay have every right to say you can't sell on their site.
I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. If you are taking people's money, then you have to give them the value of that. No-one is going to be sympathetic if things go wrong."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Well it was only a few items I have sold - mostly I use it for buying as can't get to the shops.
I hardly ever sell for that reason - but do find it great for finding all sorts of items.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0
