Hey. I've just had the exact same thing happen. They've restricted my account and are asking for Photo ID (fair enough) and a letter proving the address i live at is mine. (for a start i live with my parents so will they accept that)
And they want proof that the products ive sold are mine.. Well all the products were 2nd hand CDs/Dvds etc of mine. I don't have any proof. and i've already posted them.

Also this happened while i was away for a few days (which were unplanned). In the meantime Ebay have refunded two customers with a full refund, Despite the fact i've posted the products. and i was unable to reply to the problems the customers noted.

Is there a way i can solve this quickly? I don't want to lose more money. and i have things to sell.
You could probably easily supply a bank statement or other printed bill to show proof of address, even if you are not the householder. I've lived with my parents for some years now and had no difficulty opening accounts or validating things that need proof of address.

Are there any possible ways in which your account might have become compromised? I know it's a nuisance, but thinking through what has happened, perhaps you could try and think of ways to secure the account once you sort this situation out.

Well i've scanned a bank statement and my passport ready to upload and send. But now when it says i can upload the documents. It says it won't work and to fax the documents... Well i don't have a fax machine nor access to one.

No i don't think my accounts been compromised at all. Last night all was as i left it. (i was packing up the remaining parcels to send) my password is strong and no-one knows it etc.

Has anyone tried to use ebay while abroad?

I'm planning to go on holiday and will want to access my accounts, but now I'm getting worried.

Most internet cafes have one. There are other places in most town centres to get faxes sent.

@Terra - a regular on the forums had problems when he was away on business in Africa --- are you able to take a laptop with you?

I had no problem with checking my uncle's computer in the UK or using eBay to buy from his wi-fi network, but I haven't been on holiday outside Britain where eBay was much of a concern. I normally shut my listings down when going on holiday unless the items can be taken with me, I am going within the UK, and/or I will have access to someone's computer or my own laptop. Otherwise I don't bother. I can see someone else might need to be able to log in remotely, but it's just beyond my experience so I can't answer definitively.

I guess security is just that important to them. In fairness, they can't be expected to know that it's you logging on from somewhere else.

In fairness, there's a user name and password. Exactly what I use to access my bank from anywhere. Ebay are the only organisation I know who does this.

Well when I had trouble I had to fax info to them a few times - then they kept saying it hadn't arrived - so I sent copies all recorded delivery - still no reply or solution - I have never been able to get back into that acco!!!! and was without one for a yr or two afterwards - till we started a new one with another email etc.
You should be able to access from anywhere -and their resolution process is worse than useless. Also when account suspended you have no way of notifying people or trying to sort things out.

Be warned, operating a new account whilst suspended on a previous one is an automatic ban when caught.

You might not get caught for a while, but you will eventually, and the threads we have on here are usually when people have spent a lot of time and effort building up a good business and then get suspended because they lost a private account a few years previously.

Yes I had hundreds of great feedback on my old one - waiting a few years but missed it terribly - now ave 100% on my current account.

I was quite happy to sort out the old one but if they won't respond I saw no solution.
