Just sent my ID docs off again, still their upload service doesnt work at all. I dont think they are going to reinstate this account now as I have sent ID docs 4 times by recorded land mail and email (they agreed to this and said they had received my documents last weekend) now they email me and say they haven't got them.

I'll have to just leave this after this attempt, dont like leaving this unsorted but as they wont close the account until its unsuspended its going nowhere. Told today I cant talk to the Trust and Safety dept just the front line Customer Services, who can only read from a script so not much help.
7roland8 in same position as you I think , once your account is marked , that seems to be it! forever.

Yes I had hundreds of great feedback on my old one - waiting a few years but missed it terribly - now ave 100% on my current account.

I was quite happy to sort out the old one but if they won't respond I saw no solution.

AS long as you are prepared to lose your current account, many people are quite shocked when a couple of years down the line their nice high feedback account gets suspended as ebay link it to the previous one.

Be warned, operating a new account whilst suspended on a previous one is an automatic ban when caught.

You might not get caught for a while, but you will eventually, and the threads we have on here are usually when people have spent a lot of time and effort building up a good business and then get suspended because they lost a private account a few years previously.

Have to agree here. I got stung last year.
In simple terms my main account was suspended for non payment of £60 fees which I had forgot about, I though ah well I'll use the other account to sell £60 and pay the fees. Within 12 hours both ebay accounts and all 2 paypal accounts were dead and I was permanently suspended for a serious breach. After being read from a script by ebay for a while I rang paypal and again received nothing but was eventually put through to a bloke in Dublin who completely sorted things out. I was lucky as they realized it was all harmless and once I had provided id to paypal and paid the £60 ebay reinstated me. But I suspect you may not always be so lucky.

We've had some really quite sad stories on here. One from a while ago had a proper business and had laid out several thousand on business stock and had been suspended. That was because of a problem on a very old buying account they had been suspended on two years earlier. I don't recall ever hearing that they got back on again but I do recall that they had been struggling for several months with ebay whilst their stock slowly devalued due to change of season.

  • I've now been limited on how much I can list purely because of shipping times. It's in my listing that I can only post on a friday so on a few occasions ive recieved 1 or 2 ratings for shipping times. 200 dollars or 11 items a month. Luckily I don't use the site a lot now as there are more specialist sites. But they are so petty and this computer says no system is plain wrong, but I was in the past selling £4000 a month, 8 year member with 6000 positives and only a couple of negs. I understand they need to do some things to protect the name and buyers but sometimes common sense has to be used.

Just as a heads up, Freedom of Information Act only applies to information held by public bodies. I also think that Data Protection only allows you access to your own data, not someone else's.

Unfortunately you are competing against even private sellers who can get to the PO more often. So if a buyer is asked to rate a seller they will compare you and mark you down.

I would also be concerned that if you sell a high end item and don't post it within 7 days that you lose all seller protection.

At the moment I go to the PO every day but I have a short term consultancy contract in january which means I can only go once a week, so I won't risk that even on my private account and will actually close all my listings at least 9 days before I start the contract.

It is all about buyer expectation

  • I just use it for junk clearance now. I post often enough but I'm just not around for couriers to collect. When I used ebay to sell individual items I was posting daily. The problem is I'm being penalized for some feedback left in January. I totally see where they are coming from but my point is that some businesses can be pretty much shut down because of what a buyer might give you even if it was clearly in the listing.

It's your buyers who pay you the money, so I'm afraid they call the shots.

  • I just rang eBay on this, she checked my account and there were 5 of the 7 1/2dsr's I'm being hammered for all dated early November 09, several from the same buyer and my postage is 4.95 after that so she thinks all limits will be lifted. I did ask about it being common sense that everything is fine since then and could they not just forget about it but she said there's nothing so I have to wait till these drop off. It's like watching defaults drop of your credit history :/
Again a common sense situation IMO.
