I think they are basing it on IP addresses. The problem is that many people can share the same IP address so it's impossible to tell if it's the same person entering or not.

Their FB page said it was ok to enter from the same computer as long as the entries related to different households.

I have been making 5 entries in total per day - each for a different person at a different address where they actually live.

Where the hell they came up with 44 entries - who knows!!

It all smacks of not actually wanting to pay the prizes as they seem to have a different excuse for weasling out depending on which way the wind is blowing!

Might the promoters consider that to be making third party entries?

I am not taking sides here - I didn't even enter this comp because I could see from the outset that it was going to come to grief.

I am sure many compers here have more experience of competitions than the people who run them. In this case the competition just looked far too generous. The trouble is greed gets the better of some entrants and they can run what might have been a good promotion right into the ground.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I 'won' again today. I made a single entry as I do always and I'm informed I've won another £5.

The entry form was duly filled, the purchase highlighted on the receipt and enclosed along with the promotional packaging. I've taken photos of the envelope and its contents and will pop it in the mail later.

Now I'm quite expecting this claim like my others to disappear into oblivion but at least I'll have something to show the Promotional Marketing people when my complaint goes in. Unlike Velvet of course who all but accuse their customers of fraud but yet can't provide the proof.

Someone had posted on the wall at FB that they were making entries for their daughters at different addresses and they said that was ok - this is no different. i have 2 sons and 2 daughters who do not live at home.

I have just read that bit but I thought Velvet it left the issue unresolved:

    Barbara Ward
Can you confirm we can play using family members details at their home address if different from own using same computer and therefore same IP ?...asked yesterday and you said it was def OK, but think goalposts might be moving so need to make sure...

Velvet's Campaign for Trees Hi Barbara, not to worry, we're happy to clarify this. As long as the address details entered are correct, it’s a valid postal address and the person whose details have been entered lives there – the play (and any prize won) will be honoured. 3 hours ago

Soph Wilton so lets say i enter for myself and 5 mins later i enter for my sister who lives 20 miles away using her details and her email address and her postal address you will pay her out if she wins from the same computer? 3 hours ago

Velvet's Campaign for Trees Hi Soph, the Terms and Conditions state that only one entry play per household, per day is permitted. Barbara's query relates to family members who live at different postal addresses to her own, but as both you and your husband live in the same household you'd only be allowed to enter once a day. 3 hours ago

But really commonsense would tell you on a promotion like this where the the odds of winning were so good that if everybody started entering their wives, sons, daughters, parents, grandparents etc that the whole thing would fall apart sooner or later.

I notice there is reference on that page to someone putting in 400 entries in one day!

Pasted below is the comment from Velvet that I was referring to :

    Jasmine Luck
Hi velvet, I have been entering for my daughters who live at different address, and i won £1 each for them does that mean they won't get anything because it's all from one IP address?

Velvet's Campaign for Trees Hi Jasmine, as long as you've used a unique address for each of your daughters and those are their home addresses this shouldn't be a problem at all.Tuesday at 13:00 · Like
