What is the age gap between your kids?

  • Theres 7 years between my two daughters. Works out okay really as they are not really in competition for toys or anything. Little one winds eldest one up abit sometimes and visa versa but they do love each other, hug each other and say they love each other!

Now that my eldest is 14 she is off doing things on her own more these days and we don't do much all together, on our recent holiday she stayed at the hotel with her new friends while I went out with little one. We only went on 2 occasions all together, didn't even have dinner together most days!

DS1, 21 and twins DS2 and DD are 17. 3 years and 10 months between them. OH had the snip after the twins and he has grown-up children from a previous marriage. Otherwise, I reckon I would have kept on turning them out every 3/4 years! (So I could have had 14, 10 and 7 year olds, as well - and any of them could have been twins again).

there's 9 years between my boys (they even had the same due date) and it has worked well. but spud's schoolfriend also has a baby with the same age gap but his is a sister and he's not very interested in her. he gives my baby more attention than he gives to his baby sister.

we do a few things separately to make sure the older boy gets enough time and attention rather than being swallowed up in constant baby-ness and he goes to boys brigade etc.

in small doses spud adores his brother and they play peekaboo etc.

  • After I had DD3 quite a few people said that's a pity you didn't get a boy, I didn't care what it was as long as it was healthy, then they would say are you going to try again for a boy.

I would have liked anothe one but after 3 girls I would have wanted another girl.

A woman I know has just had her 4th boy, no doubt she'll get the same comments I got about trying for a girl.

It is lovely having girls though. I'm glad both of mine were girls now.

Theres 14 months between my two and i wouldnt have it any other way.

When I was pregnant with DD everyone thought I was mad but it seemed easier than just having DS as Id done it all before LOL

Now they are 12 and 11 they are more like twins.

I would like another one but after 4 1/2 years of trying the urge isnt as great and as Im now 35 I look ahead to when a newborn may leave home and it seems a long LONG time away and I seem very old lOL

oh no, don't say that lol!

i'm 34 and was thinking of having another in a few years time :D

we were talking about this at toddler group last week, the age gap thing and although it seems to be the norm those of us with babies of around one didn't tend to think that a 2 year age gap would be good. probably because you're always running around keeping a one year old out of the road and out of the dogfood and just can't imagine having morning sickness amid such chaos :rotfl:

Every now and again I think of having another one but then I see the tired mums with rings under their eyes and baby puke down their backs and I soon change my mind. Plus I nearly died during childbirth of the last one so I don't really want to run the risk.
