Hi Tina, I just buy jewellery wire 1.6 or 1.8mm (or any craft wire) and bend it round with some plyers myself, then just cut it...its quite soft wire so easy enough to do. I get mine from hobbycraft (i forget the make but its in a little clear bag with a yellow tab top about £2 a packet).
Just to update you guys my sale on Sunday went much better than last time, I sold:
6 handmade scarves (took 10) £3.50 each
8 giant gingerbread men (took 15) 50p each
2 mobile phone charms (took loads of those) £1.50 each
4 handbag/keyring charms (again took loads) £1.50 each
8 sock cupcakes (took 12) £1 each
6 bundles of kisses (took 25) 30p each
3 jars of breakable hearts (jars of gingerbread mini hearts - SOLD OUT) £1.50 each
2 jars of love messages (jars of sweets in previous post - took 3) £1 each
didn't sell any earrings but lots of other jewellery stalls
Last time I only sold cheap biscuits and cakes/sweeties impulse buyers and not a lot else. This time loads of people were stopping & looking and the scarves were going like hotcakes. I even took wool to crochet more while I was there, but couldn't make them fast enough. I had loads of people asking if I had any more or whether I did those little glovelett fingerless glove things. May have to make more of those next time. They're really light so its not like they're hard to carry. The sweetie jars weren't so popular but I might make more little jars of biccies next time as they all went in the first hour. I've already roped in the family to start rinsing and passing on their pickles & jam jars so I can sterlise them in the dishwasher and re-use them.
I'm going to re-package the love heart sweets & kisses to aim at mothers day and possibly even xmas if they still dont sell then....the BBE date isn't until mar 2012!0 -

We started a Northern Ireland Craft Fairs page for sharing dates and opinions on local Craft Fairs in the NI Forum here on MSE
On the whole it works really well, I have been to lots of shows I wouldn't have heard about otherwise (some good ones, some not so good) and made loads of friends through the forum. Of course you get some 'lookers' who just come and read the dates and never join in with the chat, and of course you get the odd disagreement, but on the whole it is a great resourse and I would totally recommend setting up a forum in your local area to find out about more dates.
I have also used the 'online craft fairs diary' which I found through google and have taken part in some English and Scottish events from this and there is also the Association of Shows and Agricultural Associations which lists all the Agricultural Events many of which have Craft Tents.
Good luck with it and hope no-body minds me jumping in on this thread!DJWW - cos we won't let it!0 -
Many Thanks for the reply, i have looked on the craft fairs diary, managed to find 3 lol. There just doesnt seem to be many in my area. Your idea of setting something up myself is great, may give it a go.
Thanks Again, xx0 -
Wow, have just found this thread and am fascinated by all the items mentioned.
Does anyone have links to the items they make? I know ..... I could 'google' but I never know which sites are 'safe' and what 'titles' I should be searching. (I've had a quick look on ebay to get pictures of some items).
For example: are the peg magnets mentioned just wooden pegs that have been 'embellished' and magnetic strips attached? How do you stick the magnets on and where do you buy the strips?
I'm craftily curious! Thanks0 -
Also just found this thread, thanks guys, lots of food for thought.
Has anyone made and cards with tea/coffee/hot choc etc and some words about "gift of time for yourself" or something more poetic? Or should I be posting this on the cardmaking thread?
Thanks

Hithe pegs are just ordinary wooden pegs (wilco or ebay) decorated
the magnet strips can be brought off ebay for a couple of quid and can easily be cut with strong sissors (but not your best ones :rotfl:) I stick it on the backs with super glue
Hope this is helpfulGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Yes definately use superglue, PVA is NOT strong enough. I put 3 little sections of magnet down the back of my pegs as one piece isn't enough to keep the peg in place. If in doubt experiement on your own fridge etc so you can work out how much you need to add. You don't want to me putting them in bags and then getting them out again to fix the problems. Like I did :eek:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Thank you for the above replies. Do you also use superglue to stick objects onto the peg eg. metal items?0
