Hi Giggle, thanks for your reply.

Due to my recent redundancy I have started making nappy and pamper cakes mainly, however, I also do face cloth cakes etc.

I have also got stock in from cash and carry and wondered whether these would be suitable for craft fair as they are not handmade. I have boxes of baby suit sets, baby socks (little flowers and diamantes on the girls) and little candles......

Desperately trying to find a Baby Fair so that I can get some things seen, however, I have not had much success, there doesnt seem to be many at all :(

    Thanks again

Oh i would love to see some photos of your stuff if you have any. Make sure everything is priced up i put all my prices on tags and not on the items but put it by the side of them. You will find a lot of people wont ask how much something is. Try and put some boxes at the back of your table under your table cloth to give it some height to it it does look better

Yes I do have pictures on my laptop, I will be happy to put them on here but I'm not sure how to do it.

Will definately put prices on as I hadnt planned to do that. I was planning to put boxes of some sort under cloths to add the height as I thought this would make the table look more appealing.

    Hi
i was wondering how stock of each item do you take?

I am doing a VERY large 2 day event, and making some handmade items to sell, and to show people what they could make out of scrap fabric etc..

there is approx 25 - 30 thousand through the gates over the 2 days:eek:

I will be making approx 10 - 12 different items, in different colour material etc...

  • CTC I would take as much as you can fit in your car/van. Then you can replenish the stand as the stuff sells, keeping the spare stuff under your tables. You don't want to sell out and have stock sat at home. Good luck with the sale, I'd love to hear how you have got on. I thought of doing one of those big events but didn't apply in time.

    How is everyone doing.
Last week I took my first Christmas orders .
A friend visited and I had left some of my stuff out as I had done a fair the day before and she started having a look through itand gave me an order for about £50 worth of stuff so I am a happy bunny.
  • Hello, I am not sure if I am in the right place, but could someone please advise me on insurance. I have been crafting for the past year or so making a few bits and pieces for myself and to give to family and friends as gifts and have been told I should think about selling at local craft fairs school fates etc. Do I need any insurance to do this? many thanks in advance.

The people who organise the fayre should have public liability insurance in place as a matter of health and safety. Cant think why you`d need it....

Some fairs wont let you in if you dont have your own public liability insurance so might be worth you looking into it as the organise's wont cover anything that you make

i was just talking about insurance on another forum and by the sounds of it if you want to sell handmade goods it should be something you should have,i know alot of the fayres ive put my name down for wanted me to have my own insurance. also if you are selling online whereever it covers you if you are sued people may be allergic to something you have made, items not as described and also on the fayres if auntie maybel trips over your table/stock or it falls on them etc. i honestly didnt think it would be this hard to get started
