I would like to organise a craft fair at my local social club, however the main room is quite small. I may be able to fit 8 tables in there. So I wondered if I had pitches on the sports field would there be a good take up? I would offer them at a reduced rate as people would have to bring their own table and a gazebo if they wanted to use one. What do you think? I think prices would be £10 for an indoor stall and £5 outdood pitch. The social club is very under used and I am trying a few ideas to breathe life back into the place. It's proving a little difficult working with a committee that does not like change, but the place will close if nothing changes.

    Hi Artydoll,
Thank you. A car boot is on my list but I would like a craft fair, just wanted to find out if crafters would be happy with setting up their own table/stall outside.
    Thanks again.

Hmmm not sure - you know what the weather's like.
On a good day I'd love to sell outdoors, on a rainy/windy day then no, your items would get damaged, suppose you could coverthem up with plastic but hard work has gone into crafts so I would treat them as more delicate that car-boot stock (of which I've done a few in all weathers LOL!)

    Hi,

I have done out door craft tables. The main draw backs are bad weather, we've hung on to gazebos to stop them flying away in the wind and chased our items on gusts of wind. On a sunny day it can be lovely. If people offer outdoor stalls we now ask is there a contingency plan for bad weather!

Another idea for use of hall is a nearly new sale: either baby and toddler or adult.
I have always been put off doing outdoor fairs due to our rather dubious weather! Would love to do one though.
Trying to earn some pennies from crafting again this year!

Thanks for your advice folks. I can see i'm at the mercy of the English weather. May try a craft fair a little later in the year just to see how it goes.

    Hi all,

I have my first ever craft fair on the 1st May and was just wondering if anybody could give me any tips.

Having read through the thread, craft fairs seem to be a bit hit and miss and so I wanted to do everything possible to have a profitable day.

    Any advice?

    Thanks xxx
