Hey guys, here you go - under budget at £43k. Granted it's in Banbridge, Northern Ireland and needs a bit of work done to it. It is however liveable in and even has a white bathroom suite. Can't be bad!

Comes to something when single glazed windows are considered a feature!

    Good find though!

It can, when you are talking about two different things. The ceremonial county is London but the postal county / traditional county is Surrey.

It was in Surrey until 1965:D

I think you can 'like' the thread - there was some button I clicked on the first page. If enough people 'like' it, perhaps PasturesNew will gain MSE-email fame (or infamy...)?:p

I'm pleased people are enjoying it :)

They all seem to be squabbling on the other threads about stuff, so I thought I'd start this as I didn't want to read that.

With local knowledge, it would probably turn out to be unfinished/abandoned, illegal ... with feral gangs running around in the hillsides and the main road stops 2 miles away :)

Sounds nice. If it were "legit" I'd buy it and just sit there for 2 years staring at the water... I love water.

A bit over priced but as you like water.

They take a lot of maintenance.... and I'd be scared to live in one for 1001 reasons... I'm a real scaredy cat about anything really. So chuck in the usual "scared of" list, which includes: piped water, anything electrical, knowing cables are hidden and might be starting fires, worrying every time I think I can smell strange burning... I'd also have to add in: extreme fear of fire due to wooden construction, sinking potential and ne'er do wells hanging about on tow paths/moorings.

    :)

After the big row in one of the threads about a £35k house being affordable - and the ensuing argument/discussion over whether it's a "nice" house at all .... if you're a tad bored why not try to find the nicest house you can for £45k.

    Rules:
    • No flats
    • No mobile homes/boats/similar
    • No auction properties
    • Nothing that is a renovation property
    • No shared ownership
    • No holiday homes/chalets
    • No short leases
    • No unmortgageable 'non standard construction' dwellings
So - where is the nicest house for £45k?
A proper house that looks like you could just move into it - and get a regular mortgage without any problem.

I've picked £45k as a house that could reasonably be bought at 3x single salary for somebody earning £15k....

What about a shed? That's all you'd get round here!
