I won't indicate if nobody is within range to be affected by my maneuver, or where indication could lead to confusion.

Example - Approaching a junction where a car is waiting, no vehicles behind me, im turning into a driveway just after the junction. If I indicate to turn left, the car waiting at the junction could see this as an invitation to pull out as I pass and i'd plough into the side of them.

What does drive me mad is when people forget how to indicate on traffic islands, especially when they fail to do a break away signal!

Annoys me big time. I as the MSE Traffic Nazi would create a new offence of Failure To Reasonably Indicate - 3 points, 12 lashes and £300 fine.

We have a roundabout which is the main exit for our estate and 70% of the merchant bankers never indicate, so you spend ages waiting to exit with a stream of cars entering the estate who don't indicate. I would put up a CCTV camera and rake in the money from these selfish, arrogant morons.

I hate people not indicating, but worse can be the rush hour home, when someone decides without indicating to swing into my lane as I'm approaching!

Not everyone pays attention to your indicators. Hubby spent an hour broken down at the front of a lane to enter a roundabout last night, during rush hour (he was popular!). Hazards were on and the car was empty (hubby and his brother standing on the verge).

Several people sat behind him for quite a while before realising that the car wasn't going anywhere and pulling out.

I also can't stand non-indicators. Agree with others that it's infuriating when you don't pull on to a roundabout for ages because no-one approaching is indicating but they all turn left into where you're waiting to pull out of.

Yeah, true. I helped a lady last year- she'd broken down near lights, and didn't know what to do. I parked up safely, we both put hazards on, and went to help- the amount of people beeping or just sitting.
Pushed it out of the way, with the help of someone in a nearby house. I waited with her til she got sorted- she gave me a box of chocolates, which was very nice and unexpected!
It did annoy me though- very obvious there was a problem, and yet only me and one other person helped? The hazards didn't seem to enlighten most people!

As a pedestrian I hate having to watch eagle eyed at every road I want to cross because of the number of drivers who turn corners without indicating.

It is because too many people are driving german cars. For some reason German cars never seem to have indicators.

I never trust what people are indicating.

I crossed a road near work last week, as BMW X5 was doing just that, she even had the nerve to beep me for daring to be on her road

I agree, there's a fuel station near me like that, however, if I was the other car coming out of a turning and saw you indicating, I certainly would take for granted that you were going to turn left. Just the way I was taught and I stick by that to this day.

I always use my indicators, even if no other cars are about, but that's probably justy habit to be honest. I'll also use them if I don't necessarily have to if I think it'll aid other road users. For example there's a roundabout near me (quite a large one) whereby I needn't indicate, but the very fact that you should be in the left hand lane to go straight over it can look to other users as if you are turning left. I always indicate to the right anyway, and the missus hates it, lol.

One of my pet hates, along with people on their mobile phones whilst driving, is people not using their indicators!
