Sorting out my life - Part 2!

Hi copperjar.
Just catching up. Iagree that renting is probably the best option in the short term just until you are sure that it is where you want to be - work wise and location wise.
Well done on everything though. It is a horrid time when you have redundancies and reforming going on. I remember the difficult atmosphere at work well and some people were just so much more tactful than others
Get your MSE head on for the rest of the month - a bit of financial tidying can only be a good thing.
Hugs

Had a nice day off yesterday spent with my friend just doing fun stuff and not worrying about things.
Good. Its about time you forgot "things" and just had some good old fashioned fun. You can't spend your life worrying about everything, especially things that are out of your control.
Good luck with the ebay thing, i've always found it too difficult to get into ebaying, my motivation just isn't there. It probably will be when I actually have real possessions in a real home though. A new home definitely deserves some new items to go in it, even if its only a few things.
I hope the work meetings go well and the job stuff isn't as scary as you think it is right now. Remember though, they chose you because they believe in you, and believe in your ability to do the job. Also it is a new job, so there are bound to be hiccups until you get into your stride and get more comfortable with the role, any employer will expect this and be prepared for it, so don't beat yourself up too much.
Lists are your friend. I love a good list, even if I never ever get to the bottom of a list I still enjoy writing one. Sometimes I don't even start the list that I've written. The intention is always there even if the drive to do the jobs on it is not.
Get yourself subscribing to seefilmsfirst and showfilmsfirst. But steer clear of the popcorn and fizzy drinks. Take a sandwich/bag of crips from home and bottle of water in. They never check your bag, and even if they do it's not going to end your world to lose a homemade sandwich. A two hour film can take up a whole morning/afternoon on a weekend and often makes me feel like i've not wasted my weekend alone. You can have a good few hours entertainment for only a couple of quid including petrol this way.DFD: 23/12/20100 -
Well done on the continued non smoking!
I agree that renting may be ideal for the first few months while you give yourself time to settle in.
Hope you have a good week!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Hellooooooo.
Just dropping in on your diary as you've not written anything for a while. Hope you are ok, and everything is going your way, and you are far too busy having a wail of a time to be on here.
The exercising is back on in a big way for me. I hope it has been for you too.DFD: 23/12/20100 -
Hey! Thanks for the message. I'll do a proper update over the next couple of days, just wanted to say I'm still here, really busy with everything, but just about managing to stay sane. Am in the middle of decorating at the moment, so I can get my house on the market asap. Scary times!!
Hope you're okay tooWell done on the gym (I'm slacking on that front a bit).

Ah but if you are putting the gym time to better use to move your life forward then that is great. However if you are using your gym time to sit and watch tv then that is bad use of time.
(don't spend too much money doing your house up for someone else, they'll just change it anyway and it is money your could spend on your new place)
Good luck sprucing your house up.DFD: 23/12/20100 -
Thanks iwah
I've had a 50:50 split between wasting my time watching TV and getting stuff sorted! So just a mini slap on hw wrist for avoiding the gymParents coming up again tomorrow to finish off the decorating - I'm not spending a fortune but do need to freshen up a couple of rooms so its money well spent I think.
I've had a strange month money wise. Haven't done my weekly shop for a fortnight and have struggled with taking lunches to work - but somehow ended the month £100 in credit! I think sometimes my weekly shop is excessive - must be when I spend less on bought lunches and takeawaysNeed to have a little look at that me thinks!!
Payday today but haven't worked out what to pay off my card yet. But did put the £100 underspend on the card which brings my total for the month to £570. 2 more paydays and my card should be totally paid off[STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000 -
Good news on being in credit. Perhaps it is because you have been too busy to go shopping. How are you feeling about the job and about the move now?"Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Wow, haven't posted in nearly a month! I need to get back on track here because things are starting to go a bit Pete Tong.
The job. Well, there have been complaints about me getting it. Basically because I got a promotion out of the restructure, people who didn't get jobs complained that I shouldn't have even been allowed to go for the posts. The union backed them and management rescinded my job offerI'm now in the middle of putting in an appeal (with the support of the same union - its ridiculous). Unfortunately this means that currently, I'm jobless unless I'm offered something in the next 3 months. Who'd have predicted that by doing so well, I'd have been the only one without a job at the end of the process?!!
I've also lost the plot a bit money wise. Have no idea where I am this month and daren't check my bank balance. Falling into bad habits - hence coming back on here. I haven't been recording my spending and have just kind of given up on the MSE stff, so hopefully coming back will be just the kick I need. I've still managed to almosy pay my CC off though, will work out my money on payday but think I should be able to make my final payment in MaySo at least some good news there....
The gym/exercise thing has also gone off he rails and I'm stress eating which isn't good! But I've stayed smoke free so that's something. Need to get back into the gym though becuase I'm spending far too much time just slobbing about.
Ex wise things are much better. Not pining and not obsessing. Saw her at work the other day and it didn't spin me out so I think I might finally be getting over it all.
Anyway, there's the update for April. I'm going to make sure I come on here more regularly because my MSE mojo certainly went downhill when I stopped posting.
Hope everyone else is okay. Off to read some diaries to catch up...[STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000 -
Checked my online banking and it wasn't quite as traumatic as I thought. Think I'll get through to payday without going overdrawn, but have slacked somewhat on the CC payments.
Things to do today:
- buy car tax
- apply for Olympics tickets
- write a few lists
- stop faffing about on twitter![STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000
