Thanks girls & hope you're ok after your bread knife incident Rosa - agree about the jeans rant too, although havent worn levis since I was a single digit size
.
My wound is still feeling a bit warm & very slightly swollen but I've cleaned it again, added more vintage antispetic cream & plastered myself up. Interesting & pleasing to hear that you're using calendula Rosa, I've heard you mention other natural treatments before, are you a practitioner ? I hope to have my own fully stocked medicinal herb garden one day ...
Sent a pic of my wound to my sister who suggested I get it seen to, although she did understand my reasons for staying home. She clearly told my dad who rang up to lecture me as though I'm 8 years old.
Although the truth is that when I was 8 I trod on a rusty nail & was so terrified of going to hospital to have injections in my foot that I screamed for about an hour & locked myself in the bathroom so they coudnt take me :rotfl: They gave up & I never had it professionally treated.
Two years later I cracked a bone in my foot the week before we were due to go skiiing & same father said that as I'd be wearing tight fitting ski boots so the bone would heal nicely, I'd be fine so no trip to the hospital then either :rotfl:
Roll on 30 odd years, 2 children & a small clean cut later & suddenly it's all very serious & trips to hospital are required  Parents
I've been incredibly lazy today but quite spendy in my own sweet way; 3 belts won on ebay- 2 at 99p & 1 at £1.99. I'm hoping for great things from these bargainous belts; a whole new look & the appearance of having lost 20lbs. No pressure then.
The direct debit winged its way to Uncle Richard today & I topped it up to tidy the balance to an almost unbelievable balance of £1500
It's the usual 1 o clock on a sunday night so I'd best get off to bed now & try not to think about being on my own in the office with Gropey ... might just need to do my a&e trip then
G'night

Hope the hand clears up quickly.
I've got to stop reading your thread, I'm now browsing on Ebay again which is dangerousI saw a super pair of boots yesterday, and resisted the temptation, been regreting not bidding ever since
Sounds like the belts are bargains.
No luck with the dieting here either. Like you say I think it's not 'just dieting' or exercise to make it work, it's more complicated. Hope you manage to get your weight loss back on track soon.0 -
Hope the hand gets better soon ..well done on the bargains..must really look on ebay sometime as I've never even looked.0

Hey Lula
Hope your hand gets better soon.
I managed to stand on a sharp plastic thing a couple of years ago and it was quite deeply embedded. However it was a clean cut and it closed well and there was no chance of anything coming off inside (unlike a rusty nail!)
I did go down to A&E but as far as I recall all they did was give me a tetanus shot (not in the bum!!!) and cleaned it up and put a bandage on it.
It healed well although was painful at the time.
I guess the issue is whether it is too big that the edges won't close of their own accord??I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Hi lady, loved the navel comment. When I get a bit contemplative I stop and hoik my top up to gaze at mine, which is the only response to give such navel gazing!!! As a practical lass from the West of Scotland I can only navel gaze for a very short time and then it's onwards and upwards. As the song says 'Time goes on and youth is gone and you can't straighten up when you bend' (not that your at that stage) but you know what I mean, time marches on. We just have to make sure tis not marching all over our faces!!!!
You have achieved two lovely girls, are nearly debt free and have lots of fun ahead of you so navel away please and onwards and upwards lady.
I gazed at mine a lot last week but it's firmly tucked away now!

Hello gorgeous people,
thanks for lovely comments & I do sometimes have a real dip in humour & postivity but it rarely lasts ... when the black dog appears I tend to give myself 3 days to get over it & it never takes that long ... I have a low boredom threshold
I've had a good day today inspite of the late night. DD was up & dressed by 7 which just goes to show how much she loves going to spend a day with lovely childminder ... I'm usually dragging her out of bed at 7.50 on a school day.
I had a desk full of emails, notes & chores to do and spent the first hour just replying to them all & trying to get a works schedule organised. I revealed my wound to Gropey who wasnt very impressed so I then had ot show him the pic I'd taken when I first did it & that made him go a pleasing shade of green
Come 10 o clock I decided it was time for a large coffee so opened up my desk drawer to find my secret nice coffee stash & discovered that 'someone' had emptied an entire tin of chocolates in there :rotfl:
I couldnt stop laughing for ages & it makes me chuckle now. Blooming Grumpy is trying to frame me as the chocolate thief while he's away on holiday so, I have now hidden the tin & its contents somewhere & nether he nor Goblin will be able to find it
I'm feeling very lazy with cooking this week & as it's half term so no pressure with meal times & bed times I'm not gong to stress about it or weight loss.
We went to the cinema after dinner & the film was fun. DD loved it & I marvelled at the animation but it's not my favourite film I've seen recently. The good news is that as we went after 6 we could park in the street for free& even better, the tickets only cost £14 for the two of us rather than the £18.50 it's been the last 2 times
Giving up mondays at home-job is everything I imagined it to be - so glad I made that decision, although I have been asked to cover for someone else next week but that's fine.
Too late to bed again so away I go ...
G'night

they'll be sorry when looking for those chocs...lol
nice to see that giving up home job on mondays is working out...it's so hard to get work/life balance. That's quite a saving on entry and parking.
hope you'/ve had a good day0 -
Sounds a really nice day - and I'm glad your wound is currently looking unimpressive, thats a *good* thing2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hey beautiful people,
It's been a tiring week. There's not much going on at work-job right now & with Grumpy & Gropey on holiday it's been just Goblin & myself in the office. Yesterday was so quiet as half the workforce were out on a job.
At the moment Highly Annoying is doing a good job of shuffling tasks around so that everyone looks busy & no one gets 'rested'. DD has had a lot of fun with lovely childminder and has come exhausted each day. Not much home-job work but enough to top up all my cash funds this week so all good there.
I havent weighed myself at all this week, nor done any exercise but I have been researching a new method of getting a kick start on the weight loss. Goblin bought the Dukan diet book in & I've been reading all about it online. I had planned to do the 3-5 day attack phase starting next tuesday, but have decided that the next 3 days are going to be far more suitable for me so I'll be on a protein only regime until monday.
I'm fully expecting all sorts of cravings but I think I'll be better equipped to deal with all those while not at work or having to coordinate meals around school timetable.
Serous action is required; the debt has never been this low in about 6 years, nor has the weight ever been so high
I have finally managed to get all the pics off my phone onto the lappie :j.
Well actually, it was Cockney Rebel who did it. Having spent at least 4 hours attempting it over the last 3 nights I'd almost given up until he instructed me to bring stuff into work today & he'd show me how to do it. He did it all via bluetooth - apparently cable is not necessary - & then gave me right telling off for not logging out or having any security set up. I told him that the reason I dont log out was because I couldnt remember my user name.
He thought I was joking & logged me out . He then realised I was serious & we spent about 20 minutes & 50 attempts to log me back in. I foresaw a bleak existence without MSE, internet banking, Quidco, ebay etc etc & wondered what sort of a future I now had
Turns out that with the original disk super techie Cockney Rebel could get me back in ... I had to pick DD up from childminders, whizz home to get disk & drive like the wind to get back to work again. DD loved having them all laugh at me & I had to just play along.
Thankfully, it worked & I have now written all the relevant info somewhere I wont forget. Whether I will be able to remember the steps to getting stuff off my phone & into the right folder again is a whole new adventure I have yet to try but it does mean that I now have a means to loading pics on ebay. I think. Obviously I dont want to rush at this :rotfl:.
Tomorrow we're going to town to do a a bit of shopping; need to buy gift for DDs friends - party on saturday - & DD needs trainers & jeans & has gift card money to spend. I am on the hunt for oatbran, contact lenses & a purple cardi. I have a yearning to visit TKMaxx ... not sure why, I just love it there, it's such a cornucopia of fabby randomness.
I've declared my latest spends on the clothes challenge - cant stop buying but I have got some truly bargainous goodies. Too tired to make sense now so will report back tomorrow with more spendy news.
G'night
