Thanks Karma for your usual well rounded & positive response. I will be wandering over to chez vous in a bit.

I'm not overly concerned about redundancy, there would be superfluous people in other areas of the business before I got the chop, I think. Not nice to say but there are contractors who would probably go before permanent staff. I dont think it's imminent by any means, but I do feel that it is prudent to have something stashed away.

Yes, Grumpy is rather good fun :D We have some very rude conversations but all in the best possible taste ;) & it is pure banter & I really do appreciate a boss who doesnt take things too seriously, as opposed to other one who is a complete basket case.

A rep from a cable company came in the other day to ask if we could operate without being online for a day during the week as they needed to do some work, Gropey started spouting the most incredible figures as to how many thousands of pounds would be lost each hour. Grumpy looked at me, raised just one eyebrow & started sniffing the air at the exact same time I muttered that my bullsh!it detector was beeping :rotfl:.

We also have a new game to play against the Goblin. Last week we were both moaning that we had no chocolate & out of nowhere she produced a tin of choccies that were left over from christmas. Turns out she'd been hiding them for easter. She let us have one each & then hid them away again. Well, on monday we hunted everywhere before she came in, & found them :j. Now that we know where they are, each time she leaves the office to go to collect the post or the filing room, I have to run to the hiding place, grab the tin, offer it to Grumpy who selects 3 for each of us & return it again before she returns.

We havent quite worked out how we're going to explain that the tin is empty when easter arrives but as I'm off the week before ... that will be Grumpys problem :rotfl:

As to my grocery budget; it equals a £50 a week spend, but that's not actually meant to kick in until the DF day occurs. I'm supposed to be on rations until then

My cunning plan is that once I'm DF, I'll be using reverse psychology on myself. By 'allowing' a generous amount; the idea is that I'll be encouraged to spend as little of that £50 as possible each week, as whatever is left will be for fun stuff / savings etc :D.

I want to have £5,000 in an ISA for emergencies before I start on the camper van / boat plan & it will take a lot more frugality to achieve that amount.

I really need to do that ^ instead, but am on the hunt for some belts to fab up some outfits. It should be a cheap way to create new looks ... but then I get sidetracked.

DD came home with a form for the guides camping trip. It's £150 for 6 nights. Then there's another form for a 2 night trip for £50. DD is using up our entire holiday budget on her own :rotfl:

Not sure if she wants to go but I'm wondering about asking lovely childminder that as I now pay her £145 for 4 days ... if I give her the extra £5 would she extend that to 6 nights :D

I could have a lot of fun if left to my own devices for a week ;)

Hell yeh :j well, most of it anyway ... boys will be required for some of the fun :kisses2:

Now just need to persuade/encourage/convince/bribe DD that camping is fun

Could be tricky, as she knows that our tent & equipment hasnt left the building since DD1 borrowed it 3 years ago :rotfl:

Ladies, when the fun begins I seriously hope you'll be there too.

It's a sad, sad but true fact that my social life is close to extinction at the moment. I've already admitted that I will need to relaunch myself 'out there' & have been doing a bit of investigating as to ways to do this.

There seem to be a few social groups / meetups within 10 miles of here & once DD is settled at high school & feels comfortable to be left at home for a couple of hours in the evenings, then I will be venturing out there.

To be honest, a lot of it is self imposed as I purposely slowly withdrew from a circle of people I used to see with & have been concentrating on DD & the debt. There didnt seem much point in meeting new peeps & then having to turn down all outings or events because I couldnt afford to go or find a baby sitter.

I dont regret withdrawing at all as those friendships had come to their natural conclusion & it has made being at home with DD & repaying debt a kind of equally beneficial & simultaneous event.

3 years of pent up non wild-partying will be explosive when it happens though :rotfl:

I've been doing quite a bit of thinking about this & actually feel quite fortunate as although I dont have the security of owning my own home I also dont have the all the responsibility with it ... & as an 'older' woman who's children are grown, & without a husband to to tie me down, I'll be free to do whatever I want, whenever I want :j

All rainy here today so just pottering in the yoga pants & cashmere cardi today & watching TV. I really love Lorraine Pascals show.

I forsee we girls heading to Pareee for a weekend of eating delicious boulangerie & patisserie goodie & fabulous shopping too :D. Need to find her secret of staying so slim & unaffected too.

I am *so* up for London or Paree ....

Lula, I like Lorraine Pascall too, she is soooooo glamourous .... I know what you mean about renting and being free with it too ... I *do* own my own place, but fortunately for me its not a tie like it was when I had my cats - I didn't feel good being away for too long, even if I had someone popping in to feed them, and a catsitter was incredibly expensive.

Thats a long winded way of saying that I'd feel fine now about renting my house out :D
