Thanks Lula! You're an inspiration, you know!

Your trip to the coop sounds good - bargains are always a *good* thing - unless you're Pippi :) who has bargains overflowing from her two freezers :)

Re. your list - the only thing I'd say is that even tho we need to put things we enjoy on a list, to make sure we remember to do them, they can begin to feel like a chore. They do for me, anyway. Tho saying that, I must include listening to relaxation and meditation CDs on my list - exactly to make sure that I do something ....

    Back again,

I've been very good so far, done 3 loads of laundry ( always need an extra one as I go into DDs room to hoover & discover a crumpled heap of discarded clothes on the floor )

Went to the co op & spent another £3.66 on bread, milk & a big bag of oats. Promised Grumpy that I'd have another go this weekend & in return he has promised to make some of Nigellas chocolate crunchie biccies ... I can feel my thighs expanding in anticipation :rotfl:

Just getting the place hoovered makes me feel better - I am convinced that Le Chat is moulting on purpose just to annoy me.

Rang lovely lady who minds DD ostensibly to book Easter holiday childcare ... but ended up chatting for over an hour, lucky I have free minutes ;).

I've had another £5 Amazon e-voucher so have applied that - Although still waiting for the £10 one .. they must only make payments once a month. Postie brought me £4.50 in clubcard vouchers so they will go towards the next fuel up.

DD has been saving her pocket money & still has £10 on giftcards so I feel another trip to town is imminent. I plan to do do this on sunday when street parking is free & might attempt to see Gnomeo & Juliet at the same time. I am now tired of paying for the 3D films & long for something that isnt in 3D to come out.

Need to whizz up to school soon to accept a party invite from one of DDs friends although it's not for another 2 weeks.

I did get all psyched up to go & dig holes for the fruit trees, as the sun was shining, but by the time I got to the front door, the rain had started again.

I think we have plenty of meals for the next week, but will need some fresh fruit & bits for packed lunches & loo rolls - trip to waitrose imminent :o

Its been raining all day here - very understandable about the non-appearance of the holes :)

Well I've done loads today, so have definitely earned my longed for Saturday lie in with coffee, books & mags :D

I wandered up to school & had a chat with a couple of peeps, then came home, got DD organized with some tea & then had a call from allotmenteers to say we should meet up tomorrow afternoon to dig up the fruit trees .

Action stations, jumped into my wellies, slid down the stairs, grabbed a spade from shed on the way & started digging like a woman who's had 3 weeks to do the job & now has less than 24 hours.

Thankfully, while the rain had stopped, it had loosened the soil in a very easily diggable way. I dug the first hole with some ease & was very proud at just how perfectly round it was. I just hope it's wide & deep enough ... Second hole was far more problematic, struggled to find the right place to put it & when I eventually decided to start digging, I discovered a lot of tree roots :(. Made my apologies to the trees & just hacked through them :o. It may also be too close to the swing, but if I still think it's wrong tomorrow, I can fill it in & dig another.

I was overcame with enthusiasm & have now properly marked out where the veg plot is going & made a start on the edges. It got dark before my energy waned & I may well be out there again tomorrow to get the veg plot dug over. I scooped out some compost from the bottom of the dalek bin & was really impressed at just how good it looks. I put a layer in the bottom of the holes & then ran in to get my phone to take a photo for when I get the flickr or photobucket account set up.

The unusual neighbours had dropped off another bag of assorted fruit & veg. This week's selection included some perfectly fresh parnsips, red onions & carrots & some seriously over ripe bananas which I peeled & also put at the bottom of the holes - cant remember where I read it, but I know the skins are good & the actual fruit cant do any harm :D.

I'm all inspired & motivated now so need to get on with the green house soon & start the seedlings off.

While DD was out I did the weights workout so now back on track. Too much troughing going on still but the other day I did wear a pair of work trousers that I hadnt worn since last winter due to the over snugness. It seems changes are occurring even if I dont feel or weigh any less :)

I am sooooo looking forward to waking up tomorrow & not having to get up immediately, small pleasures are sometimes the best :D

Dont hold your breath KC ... if the weather is fine then from now on I'll be up to my knees in mud ;). Mind you, now that I'm wireless, I might be able to get on t'internet in the garden too & I can just send live broadcasts of me digging :rotfl:

I've hung washing out on the line as it's all sunny & inspected the holes ... but I think someone came & filled them in during the night as they dont seem nearly as deep this morning

I also ventured to the back of the shed (past the bikes, the lawnmower, 2 x hamster cages, litter tray & hamster bedding & cat litter. As it's all the woody saw dust type I'm assuming it can be added to the compost bin. Or, I might use the sawdust bedding for the strawberries instead of actual straw.

I really want my veg to be as organic as possible so will need to come up with some cunning & creative slug repellents.

I'm going to turn the old wooden bed slats into raised boxes for growing carrots & salad, so now off to find a way to join them together.

I'm having a NSD today & DD has declared she doesnt want to go shopping tomorrow as she wants to save more money first. I am both amazed & very impressed. I am less impressed that she declared she had only intended to help in the summer. Had to remind her that she had promised that if I gave up the allotment then she would help to grow stuff at home. She'll be worse than a rabbit in the summer. I'm hoping that growing our own carrots will see off this weird allergy she developed last year.

Need to fill watering cans up now so the water is all ready for when the trees go in.

    Will report back later ...

Victoria (plum) & Connie (pear) were rudely wrenched from their happy home at the allotment & expected to lie down in the boot for the journey to their new home.

It seems they have grown somewhat in the last year though, as when lying down in the boot, their top branches still reached the windscreen & each time I turned my head I got tickled in the eyeball by a bud :rotfl:.

We stopped off briefly n the way home so DD could buy sweets & the clever girl got a £2 coin in her change. We did a deal & it ended up in my sealed cat pot.

The other allotmenteers were rather negative about moving the fruity ladies & said they might be bit grumpy & not do much other than sulk this year :(.

Pish posh to that :p, we assured them that they would be well loved in their new home, the holes were the absolute perfect size, we added a bit more home compost, some shop compost, a can of water each, back filled with the soil that came out pf the holes & I tucked them all in with a small cosy covering of manure that I managed to get from the allotment pile ;).

The moon s current phase is auspicious for my fruity ladies & just to give them a bit of extra help & encouragement I sprinkled some spring water on them & urged them to live long & prosper ;)

Back to the raised bed containers ... not that easy as the edges are sightly rounded so they wont sit flush on top of eachother. They do however, have a drilled hole at each end so I simply fastened each plank to the next by passing some garden wire through each hole. I may have to have 2 containers side by side & raise them on bricks rather than one on top of the other. My ideal would be to have sleepers to contain the beds, but I dread to think of the cost ...

Tomorrow will be about ironing, cleaning the bathroom, baking & meal planning. I have direct debits due out next week so need to be be very careful with the CC payment. Payday is on a monday yet again, but that will be fine as I can either shop on the sunday & know that the money will be in the bank before the payment is processed, or ... I can wait until the monday to shop as I wont be doing home-job :j

Must go find something to feed ourselves with now .... could well be jacket potatoes tonight as I've used up all my energy on the garden.
