Hi lady, all busy your end then! I'm delighted for you re the Baileys. I do enjoy a nice Baileys [STRIKE]every time i go out[/STRIKE] now and again XXX'The road to a friends house is never long'0
-
I'm enjoying a bit of Strictly with a lovely Baileys right now.
I've started my cooking now ready for Xmas. I've got the family coming to me and my parents arrive on Thursday and my sister and her kids on Christmas Eve. My poor BIL won't arrive til Xmas Day - we're actually celebrating Christmas on Boxing Day. Luckily my nieces are too young to read a calendar so they won't be any the wiser!!
I'm so excited. It is a lot of work but I can't wait and I love cooking so I don't care!
the most annoying thing is that I've three days of work to get through first although luckily we've got our lunch on Tuesday and I'm hoping we can go straight home from then!
Lula - I've had a telephone interview for the census job which was very quick and very straightforward so hopefully you'll get through to that round. Fingers crossed I get a positive response!!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Oh dear,
I am exhausted tonight. Poor DD is really unwell, sore throat, feverish & snuffly. Had intended on writing out cards & taking a leisurely stroll to the post office but by 8.30 another blizzard was in full swing. Had a bit of panic about being housebound with ill child so marched off the the chemist for yet more supplies - including some for me as chances are I will also come down with nasty lurgy.
Decide to pop into co op as well for things like flour & sugar & also came across a roast chicken reduced due to use by today date. I wedged it into the freezerI got some more yoghurts & jelly for DD as her throat is so sore she can barely talk & winces when she coughs.
I keep checking her tonsils & praying it's just a nasty cold, as the nearest walk in centre is 3 miles & 20 cms of snow awayI probably couldnt get the car out anyway. School & work looking unlikely at the moment
She lay on the sofa all day looking pitiful & I ran about getting drinks, dosing her with various meds, putting up the festive tree & decs & trying to get laudnry & chores done.
Still have one load of laundry, the ironing, bathroom cleaning, baking & all the other chores to do.
Still have a large pile of cards to write & post.
Still have a large pile of presents to wrap.
Still need to seriously declutter this place;
I've realised that the large cupboard under the tv could house all the files & paperwork if it wasnt full of LP's, singles, tapes, videos & a turntable.
I'm off to write some cards now, I may be some time ...
xx
PS - Great news on the census job makeupcant access my email at the moment but hope to hear soon.
I woud love to have family here for christmas but need to get more seating & less other furniture first0 -
Sorry DD is so ill, Lula, it sounds a bad one. And I don't think I got that blizzard this evening that you got, tho I did get a lot more snow this morning. But I went out this afternoon anyway - it turned into a little tiny thaw! - and I have wellies
pretty ones
which pleases me greatly :j
I do understand the horror of such an expensive bill at Waitrose - even my Sainsbury shopping seems to have gone absolutely crazy this month, I'm going to seriously have to check what the dickens I'm spending each week.
I hope you get some me time in.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
A pyjama day in full swing today; DD is looking pale & glassy eyed today rather than flushed & is snuggled up in my bed rediscovering the delights of earth tv ( as opposed to cable). Her throat is still sore but I've dosed her up with everything the pharmacist gave me & she's managed to eat some fromage frais.
I very much doubt she'll be going to school tomorrow which leaves me with a dilemma. I had 4 important tasks to do + it's the Secret Santa swapover at lunchtime. If DD is recovered enough not to need her temperature monitored I could leave her in bed with mobile fully charged & credited & go in just to get my important tasks done for say 3 or 4 hours. Naturally this also depends on the weather.
As I type, there is stuff that looks remarkably like small snow falling out of the sky . She's all concerned about getting her project finished as it's due in tomorrow. Every year at this time she succumbs to some lurgy & I really think the school makes them do too much
I have done the final load of laundry & now just need to complete the following tasks :
[STRIKE]Write out[/STRIKE] & post cards - DONE the writing bit
Wrap presents
[STRIKE]Hoover everywhere[/STRIKE] DONE
Clean bathroom
Complete ironing
Wash floors
Yuk, yuk, yuk I just want to drink coffee, bake cakes & read my book.
Will return when I've actually accomplished one of the tasks on my list.0 -
Just? Just??? Each thing on that list is huge!!! I'm sorry DD has such a bad lurgy - thats not a bad idea about leaving her with an armed-to-the-teeth mobile.... hope it works out for you both, Lula.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Right blizzard here too, just got back from my mates in time. Had a lovely meal and great chat as always.
Hope DD feels better XXX'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Souk - glad you got home safely hon
KC - you are absolutely right about each thing on that list being huge & I've accomplished 100% of the hoovering & tidying I needed to do& about 90% of writing the cards
. And 0% of everything else
Not that I'm bothered as it will all still be there tomorrow & I've decided not to even attempt going in to work so will have all day to complete them.
Have had a chat with lovely Wol who is enjoying having a bathroom with a ceiling :j I've also chatted with DD1 who is safely at her bf's house & another chat with my dad who was just off to visit my grandmother to check she's been fed & watered & deliver gifts to all her lovely carers.
Rellies who are due to fly in on tuesday are somewhat concerned ... nothing I can do there really just hope it clears enough for planes to land at Gatwick.
No more snow here so far, but with temperatures due to drop to -8 tonight & no sign of gritters, at the moment I dont intend on risking the journey to work. Very much doubt if school will be open anyway as the high school broke up on friday. DD now having a bath which always help with recovery. She is apparently well enough to attempt chips :rotfl:
I will get to the post box tomorrow & also deliver local cards & get on with the chores.
Need to speak to home-job driver to see if we're working next week & just had a text from school to say they're open tomorrow ... bet that changes in the morning.
Off to finish the cards now & will will WILL wrap some more presents tonight.
Bye for now
xx0 -
All sounds good there Lula - and you've spoken to Wol! Nice one ...
I hope that school sorts it self out - they don't seem too organised on how/when to cancel. Hope your night is peaceful too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hmmmmm
I didnt, didnt, didnt wrap any presents
I did however, do another workout :j the washing up, drying up, putting away, wallow in a bubble bath with great book, do my nails, email bosses & speak to home-job driver
Guess that means I'm exonerated from the non-wrapping then,
Was hoping to make a payment to the CC but recent manic spending & some direct debits due out this week means I'm a bit short of dollars.
I've put my last £1 coin in the sealed pot & now have 62p in my purse
I never take money out of the bank & just rely on home-job for cash so as last week wages only just served the funds, I'm fast approaching the badlands of Brokedom
I've emailed bosses at work-job to announce my intended absence & firmly blaming DDs illness for it.
Home-job boss intends us to work as normal so I need to be up & about as normal tomorrow & get all those chores done & cards posted.
Now off to watch Buzzcocks in bed - bliss
