I hope you got to bed soon after that, Lula - thats *late*! I've just been out to look for the eclipse - ever hopeful - but its totally overcast - not sure whether its the forecast mist/fog, or cloud, but the moon is definitely not visible, sadly.

Hi Lula, I have to go out at some point too to give a spare key to my landlord for them to do electrical tests. After seeing some right tips yesterday (dirty flowey sofas anyone?!) I'm staying put. Apart from that it's cooking and cleaning here today. Enjoy XXX

It's been a Very Spend Day here today :o

No home-job work today which suits me as I have other plans,

I emailed boss to say I wouldnt be in again - no reply so he prob has the hump but I dont mind. My have to do a couple of extra days in January to make up the time, but will worry about that when it happens :p.

Shot off to Argos to collect the cheap fleecy throws that are for lining curtains - in the washing mahcine as I type because they smelled funny.

Was going to attempt M&S as I'm after a turquoise cardi to go with a fab ebay dress I got ages ago & havent worn, but drove round the car park once & then headed off as no parking available. Next stop was Waitrose to buy the last of the stuff needed for christmas & boxing day - eg wine for mulling, cinnamon & spices. Dad was saying that he may not be able to get sprouts as there's a shortage ? They had loads in waitrose but DD & I made a pact that we would walk past, pretend we hadnt seen them & never speak of it again :silenced: ;)

Refused to pay £6.99 for a 'belgian' yule log & was lucky enough to grab the very last cadburys one for a mere £2.99. I insist on the ones with chocolate cream inside the sponge. Had to get batteries, cheese, some household bits & tissues as DD has sneezed through our supplies & the total scary spend came to £56.87

January will need to be my most frugal month ever.

Now off to empty the washing machine & then head off to the garden to gather bits for the yule wreath - no sign of an eclipse here as the sky was a giant cloud blanket.

    bye for now

Oh my god, I *love* that chocolate cream with a chocolate sponge and chocolate icing .... slurp, drool, etc etc :D

You know what, its Christmas, I've stopped caring about the budget. I'll bag a bargain if I see it, and I won't go crazy, but I'm not going to fuss myself to pieces over this stuff.

You sit down and enjoy what you've accomplished!

:rotfl::rotfl:I've never heard so much chat about sprouts as on this forum! Hypno has a tin of sprouts she might be able to spare if your dad gets stuck! :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope DD feeling better soon (me and DD have lurgy now, feel :(:(:()

Let us know how effective the fleece lining is for curtains, am very tempted to try myself.

Sounds like you are getting there.
Fleece lining for curtains sounds like a good idea.

Yep, from now on the days get longer & the night gets shorter :j

Shame I feel so rubbish though, my immune system being tested to the limits but I am ignoring nasty viral attempts to infiltrate & defending with all my might & more vitamin c.

Seem to have so much to do that I'm now wondering just how I would have got everything done if I'd been at work :undecided

Rellies arrived safely & hopefully they are heading towards the supermarket with my Dad right now to finish off the fresh food feast shopping.

I did make the wreath yesterday & was quite pleased with the result; as in pleased that I used stuff we already had & that it was 'crafted' with good intent & thoughtfulness, on the other hand I think I may need a few years practice before anyone else thinks it any good :rotfl:

Holly leaves are very very prickly & there wasnt a berry to be seen but I used some tiny red baubles instead & when they were threaded on to the same wire that I threaded the leaves on it does look quite 'effective'.

I spent most of the evening wrapping up the last of DDs gifts but still have more to do for other peeps. I can see the benefits of just buying one expensive gift rather than many cheaper ones, although I do like to see them all wrapped under the tree.

I still havent delivered the neighbours cards :o & should go to local hardware shop as 2 lamps have now fused. They were both plugged in to the socket by my bed so I may need to investigate the socket itself ... or I could just ignore for while ...

Should have some home-job work to do which I will need as my cash supply is still only 62p, although I wont have earned much at all.
I wont be topping up the funds this week or next week but thankfully can use the 'trips & treats' fund to pay for any excursions. There are 2 films on that DD want to see so we'll do that next week.

Right, best get dressed & then get on with the rest of the wrapping :(

    Hopefully a NSD ...

    Just popping in for a lunchtime update ;

Forgot to say that I cleared another bag of books, clothes & toys to charity shop on tuesday ... very pleased with myself as it was on the pile of stuff to ebay within a time limit & usually I extend the time limit so I dont have to deal with it. Now I just want stuff out of the house.

Had a call from my favourite project manager at work to say that bil's beer has arrived. This is great news as I no longer have to part with interim gift ( Green & Blacks chocolate :D) but a bit gruesome as it means having to go to work to collect it :(.

Cannot tell you just how my heart sinks at having to pop in tomorrow ... but on the bright side, I could use the opportunity to release my recycling stuff from the house ... that's what I'll do.

Right, back to home-job work now ...

Isn't that the greatest feeling when you manage to get rid of a largeish piece of clutter out of the house? And you get to keep the interim gift - sorry you've got to go into work tho, I can understand how your heart sinks.

At the moment, I'm going through the plastic bags that have the contents of my desk in them, just repacking the desk - and this time, I'm going through all the receipts, all the business cards, everything - its amazing the crap that was in there! Its not very Christmassy, maybe - well, it isn't at all, actually :rotfl: - but now that I have my freedom, I'm getting the house back together the way I want it - and I don't know what I can store in my desk until the desk is emptied of crap. No more half measures! Ooh, thats a title for a diary!
