With coffee in hand I decided to check whether there were any other debit card payments that hadnt gone through yet as my account appeared suspiciously healthy even after the rent, water, virgin media ( sorry for swearing KC) & insurance payment exodus.

Finally it dawned on me that I hadnt done the transfer to my savings account

Rectitifed that little oversight & the funds are now looking a lot healthier than my current account :undecided

    Gas £178.00
    Electricity £177.00
    Car Tax £ 60.00
    Car Insurance £ 60.00
    Service/Mot £ 80.00

Sorted out some laundry, then home-job driver appeared with wages, so I topped up the cash funds too.

    School trip £ 30.00
    Clubs/hobbies £ 60.00
    Trips/treats £ 50.00
    Presents £ 70.00
    Clothes £ 00.00
    Laptop £ 40.00

I also have £20 pocket money this week but will probably save that towards next weeks coffee & cake meet :D

Not sure what we'll be doing tomorrow, really depends on the weather & my mood. Feel a bit drained right now.

Off for a wander round the diaries ...

    xx

Completely forgot that amid all the annoyance there was wonderful moment this afternoon; while waiting for the kettle to boil I was gazing out of the window at the landscape & a large bird started to circle the garden. I called DD in to have a look & just as it settled on a branch in the silver birch we realised it was a heron :). It looked around for bit before flying off again & i almost wished we'd had some fish to feed it.

Wow - *very* annoying times with the school, and companies that mislay your money (and you shouldn't swear :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: its bad for my blood pressure) but fantastic at seeing a heron right in your back garden! I'm the envious one now :)

Why are companies/schools so stupid nowadays?
    How lovely seeing the heron

Yes, it was great to see the heron, but presumably means that there's very little food around so tomorrow we're going to head off to the garden centre to get some fat balls & nuts. I bought one of those feeders that only small birds can get into & am now very ashamed that I havent filled it up :o.

Oh thats true, isn't it ... maybe I should make the trek to Sainsbury tomorrow, see if they have some of that hard veg fat .... it'd only be there and back again, and I'd be warm at both destinations....

    Hello lovely peeps,

I've been meaning to log on all day to update my progress but kept getting side tracked by various events.

A rather lazy start to the day with coffee & tv in bed while the washing machine did the first load. Changed the bed linen & put the second load in, then decide we had to get out of the house as DD was looking rather peaky & bored.

We headed off to a nearby garden centre where they had fab festive displays with penguins, bears, a camel & even a unicorn. DD was rather keen to take it home, but I reminded her that she already had a 6ft pet shark that needed rehoming before anything else came over the threshold.

There was an array of Cath Kidston stuff there which had me salivating but [STRIKE]I [/STRIKE] ok DD managed to restrain from adding to the mug collection & instead bought a set for DD1 who always admires mine, a shower gel & body lotion set for her & also a gorgeous - but reduced to half price ;) - fragranced candle that will be perfect for another relative.

I also found some welly socks - so we had a pair each - a shiny red snow shovel for £10 & a few edible items for the birdies a total cost of £25 which means all my carefully saved pocket money bar £5 is gone :(. It may not be glam, but believe me; welly socks & a snow shovel are the only fashion accessories to be seen with in surrey these days :rotfl:.

We had intended to head on up to M&S afterwards, but frankly we were exhausted & bored with shopping. Ok I'm lying - the truth is we were both desperate to get home & have a go with the snow shovel :D.

It is indeed fun, I'm thinking that it would also completely pee all over the other dads on the beach when it comes to digging out the moat for a sandcastle :p

After lunch it was time to brave the garden & sort out some nosh for the birds. The snow is actually quite deep out there & very slippery which meant I lost quite a few peanuts while filling up the feeders but just before my hands froze solid I managed to turn what was yesterday a mere heron perch, into a full on gourmet Fly-Through catering for every kind of dietary requirement. We have various seeds, nuts, fat balls & some fruit bits too as well as a couple of trays of water.

I was at the window getting quite obessed about how long it would take for the birds to suss out the new feast in our garden but was saved by remembering that our library books were due back. Yesterday :o. that was a 39p fine in spite of the fact I'm pretty sure the library wasnt open yesterday. While there we came across some festive goings on including a sleigh with reindeer & santa & elves collecting for local charities, the high school band & then the local councillor turning on the christmas tree lights. There are always mini trees with lights fixed above the shops but I dont remember ever seeing an actual tree on the ground all lit up before so that was quite cheering.

I completed a few surveys & earned enough to get a £5 amazon voucher & I just love lightspeed as the e-voucher gets sent almost immediately so I hopped straight over to amazon & got another gift that DD1 wanted that has sold out in all the nearby shops & Boots website & also the final under the tree gift for DD. I certainly dont have enough present fund left to buy the rest of the gifts I need to get, but it has certainly helped spread the load & just not having used a credit card is a joy.

What I have learned is that while the present fund is ample for covering birthdays & random gifts, it certainly doesnt cover all the christmas gifts I need to get so I definitely have to start a christmas fund next year & not let is lip away or be 'borrowed'.

I was a bit naughty & counted up the £2 coins I've been saving & was surprised to find £30 worth :D. Have put them back in there for now but may well add them to the laptop fund.

    Bye for now
    xx

Hi Lula... I seemed to post and run last time didn't I lol But I went on holiday not long after I'd posted and today is the first chance I've had to have a good catch up on some diaries.

Glad everything's good for you lovely, I was going to say I hope the snow doesn't stay around for much longer but now you have a beautiful shiny red snow shovel then I hope it stays for a little longer (but sods off in time for DD to go back to school on Monday).

    Have a good weekend :)
