Big hugs Lula :grouphug:
Glad to see that tackling some chores has brought smiley faces, it sure is a better feeling than having chores face you isn't it.
I know what you mean about needing change. About 5 mins before I just caught up on your thread I'd text my friend saying how I think when I'm older I'm going to regret that I was so lazy and such a stress head that I didn't have more kids and the life I want. I said I should take steps towards making my life what I want it to be but I am too skint & lazyThat's so embarassing but it's the truth
Hope you feel better soon. I think the run up to Christmas is always a really stressful time no matter how organised we try to be.

I'm sorry you were feeling so down, Lula - looks like you felt a bit better by the time you went out, but its a difficult time of year - thats bad that you're being expected to fund everybody else's Christmas food, thats really not on - do you feel you can't be blunt about it in emails? It is difficult, I know.
And you went to your favourite food shop again! Good idea - I was in one earlier today, got my beloved Waitrose pesto, even though its £1.99, I love it. They had some offers on bars of Lindt chocolate, and on vacuum packed chestnuts too - I'm doing little foodie hampers for pressies this year, its actually quite fun in amongst all the "oh dear, how much is that now?"
Hope you're feeling better.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks for lovely posts, you are all so wonderful
Bowski - I hear you hon it all rings true, but we are going to make changes in 2011 & they will be good ones.
Karmacat - amazingly I have just received a text from relative abroad informing me that christmas puds are half price in tatco this week ( they have sky). No greeting to start the message & it seemed to imply that I should rush out & get one ... *snarls inwardly*
I love love love your mini hampers as presents idea. It's sheer brilliance. That would satisfy my creative urge to make things look all pretty, making them up would be fab, *thinks baskets, *pretty gingham linings, felt gingerbread decorations, ribbons etc etc * if I get the veg garden up & running I could possibly have home produce in some format. It's all put together by hand so therefore a lot of thought has gone into it. Just perfect. * Steals idea & runs with it*
KC - you are indeed wonderful and wise
Need to complete online shopping before updating sig, confessing spends etc,

Hiya! You've certainly taken the idea and run with it :rotfl: I wasn't quite that advanced - I was thinking gift bag lined with tissue and more paper crinkled inside
between getting the house ready and getting well, craft-stuff proper is beyond me this year (well, it always has been, oops). But presentation is *so* important with this stuff, so I'm sure you're on the right track.
Your rellie has some cheek! No communication there that they'll be bringing back a special something from the Christmas traditions of where they are?
I hope those online spends aren't too bad - I bought some M&S bootee slippers online (very glamourous, I know) for store collection, and even they are now two days late.

Lula my love, when life thows us some carp we have two choices
1. Get into bed with the black dog and put the covers over your head
2. Head up, shoulders back, lippie and heels on and fight it!
I think you're a fighter lady. Changes need to happen but you can make them happen. We're all rooting for you XXXXXXX'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -

I just had a thought about your situation, Lula - you were saying that the rellies are leaving you and your dad to pay - and to sort it all, from the sound of it. Well .... instead of waiting for them to offer, why don't you *tell* them what they're expected to bring? They offered .... sort of ... take them up on it. Here's hoping ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0
