molerat wrote:The only way that this issue can be successfully resolved is for the HITA, with financial assistance from the other hamper companies, to reimburse the customers who have lost out. If they do not do this what future do the other hamper companies have. People will be very wary of paying cash into any of these schemes. Many have been bitten twice this year, firstly with Choice and now Farepak. One of the main reasons Choice gave for their demise was that they had not been paid by the companies they sold vouchers to. The rest of the hamper industry may be secure this year but what will happen next. At least if a bank or BS goes down you are protected by the FSCS.
I for one will not trust another hamper company and will be depositing my family and my own cash over the post office counter for next year.0 -
HITA in one breath say they have no control over Fairpak. In the next say they have a number of concerns / questions surrounding the administration of Farepak that it will be seeking answers to. If the £100.000 bond hasn't been worded and placed correctly then that will go back to the administrators.0

I am really sorry to hear of so many people losing money because of this disgusting company. I sincerely hope that you get some money back. This is something where I think you should also write to your MP's. Mainly because virtually every constituency in the country will have someone who has lost out over this.
I really think its stinks. I am relly angry on your behalfI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

QUOTES FROM HITA WEBSITE-
To monitor the standards and services offered by our members
To ensure compliance of members with the Code of Practice
To demand evidence of financial stability
To provide impartial consultation on any customer complaints
To regulate the affairs of the member of HITA in a fair and just manner
To co-operate with Government to ensure high trading standards
This seems to be untrue especially the financial stability quote,in my opinion HITA have let the customers of this company now known as theiving farepak down big style,NOW I REALISE ITS BEST NOT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING BEFORE YOU RECEIVE IT!0 -
i have actually shed a tear tonight reading these threads. i am a "big guy" and i dont cry!!
what a terrible thing to happen at any time, but all the saving people do with these hamper companies is all about being able to have a great christmas whether rich or poor.
i really really hope things get sorted out for you all.
remember family and friends are just that and they wont hold you guys as "agents" responsible.
on a final note, christmas is all about family and friends, its not about the presents and spending large amounts. dont let the b****** who ran this company spoil what should be a very happy time. spend it with family and enjoy the season for what it really means.
i realise that doesnt cut any ice for the kiddies, i am totally gutted for them.
good luck.0 -

Can I check Farepak and Homefarm Hampers where part of the same company and Findel who owned shares in both (sure I read somewhere it was 60%) has now bought the remaining 40 % shares in Homefarm but not in Farepak. Surely it is a case that what they have done is merged the two companies into Homefarm but without the debit of Farepak.
I keep trying to tell myself it will be ok and I've done they worst part now telling people who had placed orders that they won't be getting anything! Tried to explain to my little girl tonight (almost 3yrs) that I had been sending money each month to Father Christmas and a bad man had stolen it so we wouldn't be getting lots for Christmas this year -her reply was it's ok mummy then went and got £1 that her great-grandad had given her today and said you can use my money for Christmas!! I told her it was ok and we put it in her money box and I just wanted to cry.
Why should our Children go without when I bet certain Children (ie MD's of Farepaks) Kids won't be disapointed!!! Keep going from Sad to Mad then back to Sad. I've email watchdog and going to email administrators first thing tomorrow but almost centain we won't see £ again. B*****D'S0 -
