I dont think we would get very far m8, they were registered as a limited company. If I am right most of the debt is written to the company name and not the people running the company. Unless it was proven that they knew how much trouble the company was in and still carried on trading regardless thats the only chance we will stand of seeing any of our money again.0

I see that for any business not to be aware prior to issue of funds impossible. It must submit accounts to the bank must it not? anyone fancy finding a way to have a fight with the big boys on this?
The administrators can't be sued, they're just there to try and sort the mess out, the best thing would be if they did find a buyer for the business that was prepared to take on Farepaks liabilities .
As Miss Muffet said not much chance of getting anything off the directors (just before MG Rover went bust their directors paid £15million into a trust fund for themselves and as far I know nothing has been done about it).
I'm not a lawyer but if the people who'd paid money in got together they might stand a better chance of getting some money if the company is finally declared bankrupt."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -

got to the bottom of the page and found this....
Findel is confident that the businesses which are being acquired, are strong and
can flourish under Findel's management and contribute to the overall strength of
the Findel Group. Findel is not acquiring the Farepak business.

I am shattered, told my work colleagues/friends today, all depending on the £2000+ they'd payed me for vouchers. I just sobbed and sobbed, and I've never been one of the girls ever needing the kleenex. Everytime they said don't worry, its not your fault through the day, I could feel myself filling up again, I feel totally responsable.
If the company directors rise from the ashes again-which seems to happen in these type of cases I think I'll be in prison for murder!
I've emailed the administrators, have got a letter ready to send, asking for acknowledgement within 14 days, and have emailed Watchdog. At least it feels like I'm doing something...........But what will my friend/customer/work mate do with no husband, 3 kids, a mortgage, living as an oldstyler, and a part time job???:j0 -
My wife is very distressed by all this. She was an agent for her 3 closest friends and her sister as well as saving for ourselves. This was the fourth year we had saved for Christmas this way with Farepak and so were not expecting any problems. As per previous comments it seems incomprehensible that a scheme like this can go bust, there must surely be either financial mis-management or mis-dealing at the heart of it. We are in a better position than most as we were not totally reliant on the funds for christmas and thanks to this site we have had £200 out of Barclays. But at the end of the day £180 of our money has gone (£900 in total with 'customer' funds) as previously stated I bet the directors won't be going short this Christmas - yet another case of the little man taking a beating !!
On a lighter note her friends have seen the funny side and are now calling her either Arthur Fowler or The Grinch !!0 -

I have been a Farepak agent a few years ago but I passed the agency over to my sister who I have been paying money to for vouchers for myself, in fact I have had £1000 worth for the past 3 years, I would have paid the full amount by the end of this week and believe me it has been a struggle! I have paid £935 up to date, this is for my three daughters Christmas presents. Like others I thought I had Christmas covered so I haven't put anything else to one side. WHAT DO YOU DO??? I am not going to let my money go without a fight, I have been onto the Manchester Evening News today they are going to run a piece on it, I have emailed GMTV. I suggest everybody does as much as they can and fingers crossed somebody may be able to do something about it.0

I'm not personally affected by this in that I havent saved with this company ... however, as a regular on mse I feel affected as so many "virtual friends" on here have been robbed blind.
Is Martin around??? Can he appear on Watchdog to interview anyone from the company???? Lets stick together as a MSE force!!!Mortgage Total: £51,801 / £75,000

OMG I feel sick reading this. I have just phoned my Mum & Dad to tell them they wont be getting their vouchers but then my Mum reminded me that it is Park that we are with not Farepac - thank goodness. I am absolutely disgusted that they have done this. How can they take peoples money knowing that they are going into receivership. I feel so sorry for those that are affected. I had already told my DD that we were not going to have a christmas anymore and still feel ill about it. Next year I am saving into a bank account, I know it is not Park's fault but I just do not trust these schemes anymore. I still have 2 monthly payments to make ( I always pay 2 monthly and late ) but I am going to phone up Park tomorrow and ask for our vouchers now - I just want my money back. I really hope there is some sort of a payout for those affected - its just awful. Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0
