Just been on Manchester Evening News website - https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk there is some information on about the administrators. There is a quote from Shagun Dubey, joint administrator and partner at BDO Stoy Hayward.

I have used hamper companies in the past but thankfully now in the position that I don't need them.
My heart goes out to you all and fingers x that the buyers of Farepak do the decent thing.

    From this is money site.

"Estimates indicate 100,000-170,000 families have made regular payments to 25,000-35,000 agents across the country to make sure they save enough money to spend on hampers, vouchers or gifts for the festive season. None of these goods will now be delivered.

Many families stand to lose around £1,000. Here is our guide for Farepak customers who want to know what to do now and what they can expect back.

What is the first thing to do?

Cancel any direct debits to Farepak and make no more payments to agents. Contact your agent to reclaim any contributions of yours they have not passed on to Farepak.

Can we get any of our money back?

Customers were initially told some monies might be returned eventually. However, the latest statement from the administrator says that 'customers will not receive a refund of the payments they have made other than perhaps a small dividend'.

    What are the contact details?

Was the company not insured for this sort of thing?

The Hamper Industry Trade Association requires all member firms to lodge a cash bond in case of such circumstances. The association said, however, that the bond was inadequate to fully compensate customers in this case.

Is there no regulation to stop this sort of thing happening?

Consumer magazine watchdog magazine Which? said, 'They are not regulated by the Financial Services Agency. It is very unfortunate there has been a bit of a gap in regulation.' "

I'm not being funny but those of you who have spent thousands of pounds on vouchers what on earth do you spend them on? I never spend that much on christmas.

I always used to buy more than I need so I would have some left after Christmas for the sales for bargain birthday presents and cheap clothes.

I use them for food shopping in the months after christmas when money is really tight, and for eletrical items when things go ie kettle etc, and for a treat ie legoland etc later in the year!!!!!!!!

Is there a way around this, and are the managers or director being arrested, as its around £225 million?

Oh yes that nice and sympathetic!!

People dont ave thousands individually, they are "agents" collecting on behalf of friends and family. Most have between £200 and £800 each...add it up for say 10 people and this is where you get the toals given on this thread from..

Next time keep your foot out of your mouth if you can't be of help

    Anyway..

I live in swindon, and I heard on the local news there was a protest today, i couldn't have gone as got a baby to look after, but I emailed them to tell em what I think of them even though I have not lost any money. My mum is with park and she has vowed never to use such a company again.

((((hugs for all of you))) I too shed a tear for you guys xxxx
