I don't think she was being rude, I have never known her to be, I think she was seriously wondering what people spent so much on at christmas. I was wondering myself, why anyone would get into so much debt for one day out of 365 that has nothing to do with money, especially if they are in the position that they need to do it in such an expensive way.
This is not to say that I don't feel for anyone who has lost, if it was me I would be livid. I really can understand everyone being upset i'm upset when I loose a fiver in the street never mind thousands to a 'reputable company'. I hope you all get sorted soon.0 -
I heard on the local radio this morning (I live near Swindon) that apparently they already had problems in April. A woman from Chippenham wanted her £30 and was told 'No'.
How dare they continue to take all this money if they knew they wouldn't be able to repay!
The radio also said that, according to Farepak, everybody would get a letter today or tomorrow, telling you that you will get some money back but not all.
I don't save with them but I do feel sorry for all of you who are losing money and I hope you'll get all of your money back!He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

I think you miss the whole point of saving for vouchers.
It is precisely to avoid debt and i for one consider that spreading the cost of Christmas over a year is prudent and sensible.Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind. - Albert Einstein.

Folks I know many people are asking about Farepack at the moment - and I've had a number of emails. This is a horrid situation, to be honest I've never liked hampers and have always previously suggested people steer clear.
My speciality is how to save money and do things the right way in the first place, it tends not to spread to far into 'what to do when things go wrong' - that's more the territory of Watchdog and some others. However I am trying to put some basic steps together - but it looks like getting money back isn't going to be easy.

-Eddie- wrote:Farepak who took over from choices in february this year have gone bust and the recievers have been called in, these are the people whom u get the high street vouchers from.
Anyways the girlfriend gives her sister money every month 4 these vouchers and she has nearly paid up what she owes on the vouchers, i think that they were due to get them at the end of this month or early next month.
So the sister has been trying to pay 4 this months installment all week on the website https://www.farepak.co.uk , the website is working fine as normal apart from the fact that when u get to the payment method it won't let u pay and just says that the website is undergoing maintenance , she thought nothing was wrong until she rang the "hotline number" 0800 389 8069 and all there is on there is a automated message telling u basically that the recievers have been called in and that u will recieve no vouchers and no refund at all.
Now the family and friends have lost nearly £3000 pounds in these vouchers and presents that they have ordered and paid for.
If anyone else can comment on this then please do as we all need to know whats going on and if we can claim any of the money back, hopefully the company will get taken over like last time but we are not holding our breath.
Many thanx
