I got the same email Claire.
Here it is for CB and anyone else thats not got it:
Unfortunately the old TreasureHuntCash.com was the subject of some serious hacking attempts and the whole site was pulled and rebranded along with some new security features for your safety and ours.
The new site is now more streamlined and will enable us to have a wider range of features as the site continues to grow!
If you had an account with us before then please simply sign up again (it takes less than 30 seconds!) using the same details as you previously did!
Thankyou for your understanding!
Happy Hunting

Thanks for the summary and research CB,got a bit frustrated and had today off
Will give it some thought tommorow.
ps. I emailed them last month regarding the vagueness of the final place and some suggestions that were made in the thread. To be fair they responded v positively within 12hrs. The hackings a bit worrying , as is the point made by claire re the email addys :S0 -
I too have had the same email and can also see other people's email addresses. I shall be emailing them to make my feelings clear that this breach of data protection is not acceptable.0

I have yet to have a response to any email I have ever sent them (mainly regarding the lack of a solution 3 weeks in &tc.)
Cmdr_Bond - I wonder if you are getting confused here between Treasure Hunt and Cashhunt. As far as I am aware, there has so far only been one previous competition on this site and the correct answer has already been published on their website, even though the competition only closed at the end of October. It was Cashhunt that did not publish the solution to the September riddle until three weeks in to October.0 -

Agreed, but as I understand it, the same company is behind both. That is why I mentioned it. I am not actually signed up to TH yet, thought I would try the clue first, Hence why I didn't get the email. Not as green as I am cabbage looking0 -
I don't think that the two sites are connected in any way - it's just that they seem to have a similar idea.0

RE: the 38th Parallel (North or South) - Also referring to 38 degrees as a matter of location are the 38th Meridians (East and West).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/38th_parallel_north
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/38th_parallel_south
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/38th_meridian_east
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/38th_meridian_west
there are only 3 other instances of 38 degrees that would mean anything:
38 degrees Celsius - only fact I can find is that this is a fever temperature = 100 deg Fahrenheit
38 degrees Fahrenheight - all I can find on this is that it is 3.33333... deg Celsius.
An angle of 38 degrees - In nature, avalanches begin when they reach the tipping point angle of 38 degrees. http://38degrees.org.uk/
Can't really find anything else. Tried looking at a list of shiprecks, but not many of them (so far) show a lat or long. Not as green as I am cabbage looking0 -
I am not sure of the grammar being used here, but I do note that english spellings (colour) are being used.
The line for 38 degrees begins with the word OR. As the Statue of Liberty was dedicated in 1886, I looked for shipwrecks in the same year.

Steamship Ly-ee-Moon ( Australia) of the Australasian Steam Navigation Company was wrecked of Green Cape on a voyage from Melbourne to Sydney with a loss of 71 lives.
Green Cape is a headland or cape on the far south coast of New South Wales. It is located at 37° 15' S 150° 03' E
now I know that is 45' short of 38°, but it is the closest I can get so far (presuming a shipwreck is the answer). Not as green as I am cabbage looking0 -

Working with Prince of Wales, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_of_Wales_(disambiguation)
I found a convict ship destined for Australia bearing that name - might be relevant. Not as green as I am cabbage looking0
