Hi Belfastgirl I've only done a little jogging before, defintely still class myself as a novice and will probalby get my "running made easy" book out again and follow the 10 week program in that. As for going out this time of year, I don't mind at all as long as it's dry. If it's really chilly I just make sure I layer a couple of t shirts under a sweatshirt jacket and that works fine. Will probably only do proper outside jogging as opposed to wii fit on the weekends when I can go out a bit later in the morning when it's a bit lighter.
It sounds as if you're doing great belfastgirl and if I were you I would just enjoy the dessert tonight, we have to reward ourselves sometimes otherwise it could all get a bit dull and boring. Just enjoy. My philosophy now with regard to food is, I try and eat reasonably healthily during the week and am less concerned about having the odd indulgence at the weekend. For me that's a reasonably sensible arrangement that I can live with long term. It might take longer to get in the shape that I would really like but hopefullyonce I do there won't be any difficulty staying that way. I really am looking for a long term answer these days as opposed to the whole yo yo diet thing.

Keep well everyone and enjoy the weekend.

You sound the same as me East Coast Girl. The diet has been tweaked should i say but it's the exercise that's sorting out the inch loss. Slowly but surely. And hey, lose it too quick by dieting and you'll only end up with stretch marks and if you're big, big then possibly loose skin issues.

Still not seeing a lot of movement in inches in tummy area, see if I can go for another 2 inches by Xmas I think.

Have decided to up the pace a bit so today I did 21 mins jogging on the wii fit and a 10 min yoga workout. Have also managed a 6740 step walk today so not too bad.
And like you SandC I would very much like to lose a couple of inches from my waist so have decided to choose a couple of abs excercises to do everyday, hopefully this will help speed up the inch loss a bit.
Still managing to keep to the 5 a day target so am quite pleased.

  • Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
Did a resistance workout and yoga this morning and plan to do jogging on the wii fit at least 3 times this week.
Ordered a 10 minute solutions dvd yesterday for abs excercises so hopefully that will help melt away the inches.
A bit behind on the 5 a day target so have got some catching up to do.

    Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hi guys, fitted a shorter swim session in on Sat as an extra, usual hour this morning but for some reason didn't get as many lengths in as expected. Still doing well and pleased with myself though. Just feel so different in myself and know that 9 months down the line from starting I'm in a routine that's not likely to drop off.

Oh yeah, found a belt whilst I was hunting for something last week. I bought this belt when I was 17 - I am now 40. It was back in the 80s where a thick leather belt was a necessity and was worn to hold baggy jeans in, I'm sure you all remember. Well this was worn through various size changes but mainly on the last holes (double holes) judging by how worn it is. I know I wore it a lot when I first bought it, then put on weight slowly, then lost again and at age 22ish was about my smallest. Anyway, I can only get the last holes to fit right now so those inches have a way togo.

There is definitely a societal change in female waist sizes as it must be a good 6/7 inches to get me down to the last holes I was wearing it at back then. Can't believe how small I must've been to have that belt buckled over jeans! And yet never was I a clothes size smaller than a 12 or a large 10.

There's a bit of a goal for me eh?

    Hi all

I'd love to join in as well - have managed to lose 4lbs recently and would like to keep it up (I had lost 6lbs but had a 'setback' lol and put on another 2!). I REALLY need to get focused, and am fed up of not being able to fit into clothes. Here's to doing as much as possible before Christmas!

My weight atm is 10st3lbs (depressing), will measure myself later. I aim to get down to 8st7lbs by next March, I think this is doable if I really get the finger out.

    What I will do:
    • Dig out running gear and leave in a handy place so that I can't have any excuses for not going at least 3 times a week!
    • Continue to walk/cycle to work and go for a walk instead of to the shops at least 2 lunchtimes a week.
    • EAT LESS and more healthily. I have been a lot better at snacking lately - sweet cravings can be a nightmare sometimes. I find green tea with mint more satisfying than pure mint tea.
    • Drink less alcohol.
    • Get more sleep.
    • Make more time for enjoyable things like reading books.
    • Have a colonic to shift sluggishness - booked in for next week yay!
    • Do more in general instead of hibernating all winter - yoga classes (also practise at home - did out yoga books), sewing classes (have been promising to do this for ages), walks (even on the dark nights - drag myself out, I always feel better for it), visit friends etc.
    • Keep listing stuff on eBay and declutter house while making a few ££s - a tidier house should also improve my mood.
    • Keep on top of housework.
    • Start using newly purchased SAD lamp!
    • Try to find pedometer...
That's all for now, gosh I feel more positive just writing all that down :)

    T xoxo

  • Hi everyone. Hope you've all had a good day.
Managed a jogging session on the wii, resistance and yoga workouts this morning so not too bad. Am still trying to catch up on my 5 a day target.

SandC it sounds like your doing really well and have found a routine that suits you. Congatulations and very well done for sticking with it. Re the belt you found, there really is nothing quite like an additional bit of motivation is there.
tara747 your more than welcome. It sounds like you've got quite a plan all worked out so here's wishing you the very best of luck.

    Thanks ECG!

I am ashamed to say that I am sitting here absent mindedly eating Nutella from a jar, I will stop right away!

Plus points: I have started using the SAD lamp (not sure about it tbh, anyone else tried them?) and listed lots on eBay, am visiting a friend this evening and have also been good at mealtimes. Snacking not so good though, eek! Must do better.
