WOW! Well done belfastgirl, a 40 min swim is great. That should certainly spur me on to do more excercise and congrats on managing to resist the wine temptation.
Only did a 10 min yoga workout so far today but plan to go out for a walk later, weather permitting.

  • Cheers ECG how did you get on yesterday? Not a particularly great day for me, culminating in having put on 2lbs at weigh in with slimming world :( not unexpectedly.

So if ever there was a motivation this is it. Have done my swim again this morning (I reckon 350 cals worth) plus the walk to and from the pool (another 50 cal or so) and I'm on track for the day. I have promised myself an extra good extra sensible week ahead. Hope you're doing ok too!
  • Hi belfastgirl. Commiserations on the disappointing weigh in, I know how lousy that can make you feel. I'm sure your'll have better luck next week and well done again for the swim, very impressed!
I did go for a walk yesterday, 7600 steps, a bit less than planned because it started raining. A few spits and spots I don't mind but proper rain is no fun.
Managed a similiar length walk today, 7300 steps. No yoga or resistance workouts today though but I decided 1 day off a week isn't too bad.
The healthy eating isn't going too badly, I've managed to stick to my 5 a day target so far although the odd sweet temptation has crept in but overall not to bad.

  • Hope everyone is well.
The last couple of days haven't been bad excercise wise, 7000 steps on Thrusday and a yoga workout. Friday was just a longer yoga workout and no walk.
Today so far have done a yoga workout and a 8000 step walk so not too bad.
Healthy eating wise am on track for the 5 a day target.

  • Hey ECG well done you, sounds very impressive. I managed a gym workout and at least a bit of a walk yesterday so should have been around the 500 cals but today not going so well, preparing for a family visit and the usual round of cleaning and baking. All I have to do now is resist eating what I baked :) and drinking the drink etc etc. You posted at the perfect time to remind me of my motivation!

I *think* I might have lost a lb this morning though :)
  • How did everyone do over the weekend?

I got no exercise at all but did try to make more sensible food choices :) which I was pretty pleased about.

Gym this morning, weight training and about 20 mins between crosstrainer and bike so happy enough so far - I reckon 400ish calories counting walk to the gym. I'm figuring my 500 cals a day goal needs to be more like 600 to make up for the weekends when I don't get to do so much exercise, so I think will try to fit in a lunchtime walk, it's beautiful here at the minute but supposed to tip it down later today.

hope everyone else is doing well!
  • Hi belfastgirl the weekend wasn't too bad. I managed to do quite a bit of walking on saturday,9800 steps in all and a yoga workout but nothing on sunday and food wise not too bad but didn't manage to reach the 5 a day target on sunday so I have some catching up to do this week.
Did a yoga workout this morning and was hoping to get a walk in today but the weather is absolutely appalling here at the moment so unless it gets better this afternoon that certainly won't be happening
    Hope everyone is ok.

  • Hope everyone is well, not too soaked/freezing etc.
Despite the lousy weather today I ventured out for a walk this morning when the weatherdidn't look too bad only to find myself caught in a pretty heavy downpour. Oh well! At least I managed to clock up 4600 steps which is better than nothing.
Also did a 20 min yoga workout this morning, if those yoga moves don't get my legs in shape nothing will!

Hi guys, mind if I drop in here from time to time?

Belfast girl I'm a swimmer too, I've built up from 3x sessions of around 40-45 mins (non stop) to just shy of 1 hour 5x per week (mornings before work phew). It's hard going but the results are showing marvellously. No dieting and 2 stone weightloss since mid Feb with body shape altering greatly. Also do 2/3 classes of low impact or toning at the gym too. Trick is consistency and as you know - no stopping.

I have a gadget called a Poolmate which I got from my bro for my 40th, which was a few weeks ago. It counts your lengths and distance and speed etc. All you do is set the pool length and your weight, wear it like a watch on the wrist of the arm that you touch the side with, press start when you begin your swim and stop when you finish. 90 lengths of a 20m pool at times around 56/57 minutes burns around 600 calories according to this so I think you are working it out about right.

Only did inch loss from waist (which is still the last place to go but it's getting there), total about 7 inches since start I think.
