When I say no dieting I have to say that since Jan I cut out alcohol during the week and have a tin of soup for lunch on work days rather than a sandwich. I also try to control portion sizes, but really that's about it. Pretty much a behave during the week and then treat myself at the weekend regime. Inch loss would have been far greater had I 'dieted' but I find it too hard to find that plateau ground after restricting food which is when it slowly goes back on again.
  • Wow SandC fantastic results there. Have to say I can never manage an hour, I'm restricted for time in the mornings and if I don't promise myself 5 mins in the sauna I don't know if I'd make it at all :) your gadget sounds great, have been wondering about investing in one of them, might drop some hints for Xmas!

I'm doing ok, not great but managing to get at least some exercise every day. My gym buddy hasn't been well this past while so is off and on with the exercise and I have to say if she phones to say she can't make it, it's awfully hard to force myself out of bed these mornings :) although I just today reset the heating to allow for the change in hour which at least means not getting up to a freezing house.

Anyhow today I did a 45 min gym session including probably about 30 minutes weights (and I went up a weight class so I was going for it!) and fifteen mins on the crosstrainer. Will hoepfully also manage a 30 min walk tonight as long as it doesn't pour, and did about 15 mins earlier. So hopefully just squeezing up to the 500 cal...

Well done ECG, should probably get myself a pedometer too and work out my steps :)

PS WI tonight at slimming world, keep your fingers crossed for me! I think it'll be 1lb off which given how many things I've resisted doesn't seem fair, but at least it's the right direction!
  • Thanks for the poolmate info, SandC - might get that for my mum for Christmas

No probs, but they are not cheap - around £69.99. It's because of the technology, there's nothing else around that will count your lengths and strokes etc. in that way. Somehow even if you do tumble turns it will still be able to work out that you've done a length! I'm not so concerned with averages and so on but I'm really glad I asked for it, it's a wonderful piece of kit - either confirms that your counting was good or will make you realise you weren't keeping count as well as you thought.
  • Hey good news last night, had lost 2lb, which I'm so pleased with that I managed to resist a scone at a coffee shop meeting earlier :) though I did treat myself to a very small glass of wine last night. Back on the wagon today with a 40 mins swim and 30 min walk so far, am hoping for a bit more of a walk tonight if the weather holds anyway well at all.

Hope everyone else is doing well!
  • WOW! SandC an hour swim is fantastic and very well done on the 2 stone weight loss. And of course you're more than welcome to drop in anytime.
belfastgirl congratulations on the 2lb loss. It's so nice when you get a pleasant surprise like that at weigh in.

With your two water babies around it really does make me think I should make the effort to learn to swim.

Haven't been able to get out for awalk so far today thanks to the appaling weather and no yoga etc today either so I think this is going to have to count as my rest day excercise wise for the week and I'll try and do more at the weekend.

So good to focus on inches rather than pounds! I would love to have a go, my main goal at the minute is 2" off the waist and 1" off each thigh, the rest I don't mind so much. I already eat very healthily but have started doing Gillian Michael's workouts (the biggest loser trainer) and they're killing me! I can only do it once every 3 days as I end up with jelly legs for ages after.

  • Oh adelight you are brave doing that workout. Very well done, if that doesn't melt away those inches nothing will.
Have decided that it's time to dust off the wii fit and start chasing my mini mii round that jogging track in the mornings and actually go out jogging for real at the weekends.
Did a yoga workout this morning and am planning to go out for a walk soon and am managing to stay on track 5 a day wise.
    Hope everyone is doing ok.

  • hey ECG sounds like you're doing really well, have you done much jogging before? You're brave thinking about it at this time of year :)

    Adelight is Gillian Michaels good?

As for me doing ok on the food (though not brilliant but not too bad) and made it to the gym this morning for a 45 minute weights workout. Also spent most of my lunch hour ironing which I don't do very often, so think I'll also call that a good effort!

Just need to keep up the good work over the weekend - going to DSIL for dinner tonight, she's a good cook and I already know what dessert is and that I won't be able to resist it :) so think Ill have some making up to do tomorrow

At least it's sunny here though!

Gillian Michaels is amazing, it's really tough it's like circuit training and is really intense. But hey, the woman trains the biggest loser contestants with this method so it definitely works. You need to have a little protein shake or maybe scrambled eggs after as it really works out your big muscles like thighs and core.
