I will go for 3 bought lunches-- i am at 0 now but I know I have to pay for an Eid lunch one day when school celebrates the festival.
  • I'm so pleased - I've gone 5 months without buying one lunch at work! Not one! I used to do it all the time, but now I make a big batch of something which will last a week on a Sunday night (eg Pasta Bolognese) and pop into 5 plastic containers. We have a microwave at work, and I have a home-made ready meal every day!

Brilliant during these cold winter months, especially. Plus, I don't snack during the day on biccies/chocolate either!
    Credit Card (Mar 2011: £11,171; Mar 2012: £14,494; April 2012: £13,329) :(
    Mortgage (Mar 2011: £199,200; Mar 2012: £190,340; April 2012: £189,635)
Debt Free date: May 2013
:xmastree: Clear debts by December 2012: £3,000/£12,000
  • I'd like to join, because I work right across from M&S and its so esy just to pop over

I'd like to pledge 4 lunches brought from home a week.
  • Brrr! How cold is it?!? I'm ready to face another week of no bought lunches. Today i've got some exciting soup my MIL bought for me (specifically to take to work - bonus). Its thai chicken and is such a big carton I think it'll last 2 days if I add a bit of hot water to it to make it go a bit further. Also got my bread crusts (better I have them than the birds...they're only getting the mouldy bits these days). I found some hot chocolate!!! HOME BARGAINS 99p for cadbury's highlights so that's now next to the kettle at work for when I get sick of all the tea & coffee.
  • are you feeling poorly, tete? hope you feel better soon if so.

No, broken hearted  Have my appetite back a bit, as in my stomach's rumbling, but anything I try and eat just sticks to the roof of my mouth and in my throat :( Got some homemade leek and potato soup today (6/15) which I froze a couple of weeks ago. I thought if I got it out of the freezer this morning it would defrost by dinnertime but it's not going to I don't think - how do I microwave that? Defrost then heat?

Well done DebtFreedom, 5 months is really good going :T

  • Can I join in too? I work near a supermarket and it's soo easy to just nip over there. I share lunches with my collegue and when we are being organised (not often!) we plan lunches for the week and work out who's bringing what. Today we had quiche, bit of ham (it needed eating) jacket potato and salad. Same planned for tomorrow as half the quiche is left.

Sorry to hear about the broken heart :( Hope it mends soon....
Yes defrost the soup then reheat. May not say that if it was a meat one but I did exactly the same with my carrot and coriander one yesterday and it was fine.

I have been a bit quiet cos I went on holiday. Still no bought lunches at work until today!!! Thought I'd be a rebel and buy something nice today - I haven't since July!! Fed up of soup! x
Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.

I've gone through and think I've added everyone to the list on page 1, if I've missed you out please let me know.
    Nearly debt free
  • Thanks Eleanor - I did a mixture of heating and defrosting - it took FOREVER.

Some Ryvita here again, most of the soup was wasted yesterday in the end. 7/15
